Our family has a trip planned to Branson in June of 08. We have a place to stay...but when we got all the information on the shows and things to do, we were overwhelmed.

If anyone has advice on shows, please respond. We have two girls, 12 years old...so comdy and music are good, but we don't like poor language or rough jokes.

We would also like advice on what to see in the area. We like the outdoors and also crafts. Since we are traveling several hundred miles to Branson, we are willing to travel 50-100 miles from Branson to see the area.

Went to Branson last year and must say all the shows we saw where very clean and family oriented. I am sure you'll enjoy your time in Branson.

You will find that the shows in Branson are very family-themed. You will not have to be concerned about being embarassed or having to cover the kids' ears.

If you like crafts, you will definitely want to go to Silver Dollar City. It's full of crafts for sale, and many of the crafters are making their wares on site, and will be glad to demonstrate and answer any questions. There are also enough rides there to keep two 12-year-olds going.

Just about everyone recommends the Shoji Tabuchi show. There are any number of former headliners in Branson, as well as some of the original country music / comedy shows such as the Baldknobbers, Presley Family, Duttons, etc. (The Duttons advanced pretty far in the "America's Got Talent" program earlier this year.) The Acrobats of China are also supposed to be very good. Pick something that sounds interesting, and don't be worried about the appropriateness of the entertainment.

If you're interested in shopping, check out not only the three outlet malls, but also the new Branson Landing in Old Town Branson, on the east side of U.S. 65. Be sure to stay for the water and light show in the central plaza.

Branson will easily keep you occupied, but Springfield, MO and Eureka Springs, AR are well within the 50-100 mile radius that you mentioned.

Branson has just a little bit for everyone. Try Silver Dollar City. Look at the web site to see if that is something you would like. Depending on the time of year they have different festivals and things going on.

I would have to say that Ride The Ducks should be a must do with the kids. It's fun and very informative about the area. YOu will git a wacky quacker. You'll just have to see for yourself what that is.

Several places to play mini golf. We like Pirates Cove and the Dinasour Park one.

Most of the shows are family orianted. So I would not be too concerned about that.

Everyone you talk to will have thier favorite thing to do in Branson. You will have to explore and find the one thing you like to do.

If you like adventure try highway 76 in the evening with all the traffic. Ther is also a new river front in Downtown Branson. Has lots of high end shops

Ride the Ducks is a good way to see the outdoors and learn a little bit about the area. Very fun too!

Silver Dollar City and Celebration City are amusement parks in the area that the kids will enjoy. Silver Dollar City often has interesting craft exhibits as well.

We like the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum, and the Hollywood Wax Figures museum. Our son is a Titanic nut and we all enjoyed the Titanic museum. And most all of the shows will be family oriented. Lots of go-carts and mini golf also if you like that stuff.

Have fun!!

You must visit the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. There are so many interesting things to see, if you are into History, I believe the School of the Ozarks has a wonderful museum. Make sure you see the Shepherd of the Hills Play. It will give you a glimpse of how life was in the Ole Days in Missouri. Interesting reading, you should pull up the "Baldknobbers" on the internet.

As previously stated, you won't find any "off color" jokes or comedy in Branson, it's all family oriented.
As for shows, with young kids, you should see the Haygoods, a very high energy show the kids love. However, there are so many more that are good. I've lived here all my life and know many of the "originals" there. My suggestions for shows are: The Presley's, The Baldknobbers, Jim Stafford, Magnificent Seven, The Hughes Brothers, Pierce Arrow, and especially Yakov Smirnoff. Yakov's show will leave you in stitches.
Welcome to the Ozarks!

Most of the shows are great. The posters have covered most everything, but I would also recommend Eureka Springs AR. It's a great little town, and has the Passion Play. Its the best outdoor show I ever been to. The town has a lot of neat little shops, and beautiful scenery.

Go to Eureka Springs Ar about 55 miles sw of Branson.
Famous Passion Play about story of Jesus. Town is built
like Swiss town, streets on different levels. See Thornburg chapel
west of town, made of mostly glass. Prices are most reasonable
for a tourist town. Trolly cars to ride and lots to see and do.
Your family will really enjoy. Merry Christmas !
