My truck is a shortbox Lariat 6.0 with keyless entry. I cannot begin to count the times that I have tried to get into the passengers side of my truck and found the door locked. Is there any possible way to make both doors always lock/unlock together??? When I unlock my truck I would really like to have both sides unlock. I finally got my dealer to make it stop automatically locking BOTH doors when you start driving (There is a procedure described in the manual to do that but it doesn't work....at least not in my truck). The ultimate solution would be to have both doors always lock/unlock together...is that possible?

On my 2005 once I enter the 5 digit code number I have 5 seconds to hit 3-4 and that will unlock all doors. To lock all doors press 7-8 and 9-0 at the same time. No need to enter the 5 digit code to lock all doors. Hope this helps ya!! T-10

When I am about 100ft. from my truck, I hit the RH button on my remote controller twice and it unlocks both doors. Life is simple...

T-10...Thanks for the reply. I guess I keep forgetting about the extra button deal. I just figure it's MY truck and I should be able to decide when to lock and when to unlock, NOT the FORD motor Corp so I should not have to unlock something I didn't want locked in the first place. I guess the ultimate solution for me would be to have both doors always unlock together. Anybody know if that is possible?

Why default a security device?

One push of the button unlocks the driver door. Two pushes unlocks all.

If I were a thief, I would know that the Lariat package was high dollar --thus a possible high-dollar target, or maybe the Lariat is worth more on the stolen truck market? Why unlock the passenger door when not needed and invite someone in to car-jack your truck?

I have just learned to push the button twice to open them all. My keypad works the same way --push the 3-4 button twice after the PIN and all unlock.

Maybe its better to learn a new habit that increases your security, and not undo your truck to fit your current habits that decrease your security?

To answer the OP's question, I don't know of any way to make the truck unlock all doors at the same time. As far as I know, pushing the button once on the FOB or running the combination on the keypad (and not pressing 3-4 immediately) only unlocks the driver's door.

Enabling or disabling the automatic locks (when the truck is put in gear) is very easy on the Lariat. You can easily do it through the onboard computer display.

I had Circuit City install a Viper alarm/remote start & doorlock/unlock system with a new remote. Don't recall the $$$, not too expensive. It recognizes your wait-to-start warning light. I've started mine out in the woods coming off a deer stand from 100-150 yards away to run the heater. Also use it to start the rig remotely to cool down in the SW summers or to leave Rosie in there while we eat.

The remote can be programmed to perform just about everything electric on your truck.

This is my 4th truck with their alarm/starter remote systems...Don't leave home without one!

I also have to confess to remotely starting that diesel engine from time-to-time just as some dude is walking by it!

MHO...Your results may vary!

My wife's car (Pontiac G6) has a feature that unlocks ALL the doors whenever you put the car in park. I was hoping something like that could be done with my truck. I realize away from home that probably wouldn't be a good thing but in my garage it would be something I would really appreciate. The biggest problem occurs when leave the house with something in my hands to put into the truck and the passenger door is locked....I cannot begin to count how many times that has happened. For some reason I just can't get the hang of pressing the FOB button twice or pressing the 3-4 keyless entry or pressing the main unlock key. The ideal solution for me again is to wire the truck so when I unlock any door, all the locks unlock together.
