We have just had our first Christmas without a German Shepherd in our rig. On December 12th we finally had to let our last German Shepherd go to the rainbow bridge. Maggie would have been 15 in February, but we decided that the pain and indignities to that beautiful lady were just too much. She blessed us with nine beautiful puppies.....most had already passed. We kept her first-born, Amos.....but even he died two years ago.
We still have our sweet little rescue dog Lili, who misses Mama Maggie so much!
She was the most beautiful lady, even at such an old age as we sat beside her and cried our hearts out--You were truly our Gal, Maggie!!
This was our first Christmas without a German Shepherd, but believe me, there will be one here next year!
When we get to the Rainbow bridge--there will be a whole bunch of GSD beauties!!

I'm sorry to hear of your Maggie's passing. It's always hard to lose such a faithful friend. Good luck in your search for your next GSD.

I'm sorry to hear about Maggie. I'm about to be faced with that decision for my 17+ y/o mini pinscher. It's a tough decision to make. My cousin just sent me that poem/story about the Rainbow Bridge. I really liked it.

Sorry to hear of Maggie's passing, especially so close to the holidays.
It's 'never' easy though.
15, how lucky you where to have your loyal friend 'that' long.
At lease you have your rescue Lili to help you get thru these hard times.
I saw a magnetic sign at the pet store yesterday that said;
"who rescued who?".

So sorry to hear your news.
Although Maggie lived to be a ripe, old age for GSD's, I know her time with you seemed way too short. Once these beautiful creatures get a hold of your heart strings, there's no letting go.
Maggie has joined her son Amos within the ranks of the DOTL Rainbow Division, that is without doubt.

Please accept my condolences on your loss. I can imagine it was quite different & difficult over the holiday. It's nice to know that one day you will honor memory with another German Shepherd..... You'll know when it's time and Mama Maggie will be wagging her approval from the Rainbow Bridge.

Sorry to hear about Maggie. As you say, she'll be there on the other side waiting, happy as a puppy and with no more pain. 15 is really old for a GSD, as I'm sure you know. Our current GSD is over 13, and every added day is a blessing.
We've had seven so far, as you say when we get there, no people better be in the way when our furchildren see us coming.
