Guess I'm not very intelligent I need spell check.

Thanks with helping me spell... now could you help me type?

BTW... someone mentioned weight police... I don't do those threads.... but I am sensitive about my home away from home... WalMarts!

And... I have stayed in that manassas Walmart... it wasn't a 24 hour walmart...

The 24 hour WalMarts are easier... you might be seen as shopping.

As far as non truck camper RV's... I'd just as soon sleep in the back of a station wagon as to sleep in a camper that isn't totally self contained.... no hook-ups for months at a time is my choice.

And last of 2007 on this subject for me... get over it please... Happy New Year!

It's been (3) good years on this site but the personal attacks on another thread have taken all the pleasure out of visiting here.

FYI, it was the WalMart at the intersection of Interstate 66 & Route 234 in Manassas, Virginia. I was parked on the side of the building near the garden center. The name of the towing company is Dominion Towing. It was a black truck. I was volunteering at one of the local charities in Manassas, Virginia. I was unloading donations from cars and loading up semi trucks with the donations. I was trying to be a good guy.

It amazes me that people actually think that a grown man would sit here and make this up. What for ? I only wanted to pass on information to fellow TC people. I belive I've been a sound member here and have never offended a soul.

Thanks to alot of fine folks that have helped me over these past(3)years with my TC questions. Hopefully I was able to help a few folks out as well.

No offense but if you are this sensitive you might not want to be on any forums period much less this one. Why not chill from the forum for awhile and then come back...

My participation on this forum has been slowly declining over the past 2 years. There are a few members on this forum that just take posts in the wrong direction. Sorry to see you go.

So, I read that thread. It was rather tame compared to many threads I've seen. Don't take it so personal and remember that opinions one the internet are worth what you pay for them!

I think I'd respond rather than react to any post I felt was negative or directed in a personal way. This site is great but it is information which must be, has to be weighed for its value to me as an avid RV'r. It all don't fit in my world but I do see if the piece fits without messing up anything else.
I read about Lexingtons that leak profoundly; mine don't.
I read about people getting run off from Wal Mart; I never have.
I read about dropping my awning to help run off; that works.
I read about a small piece of hose to blow into a starting fire; great

As I see it, it's my choice, my final decision because I trust no one and everyone at the same time. I just check it out before jumping in.

You should reconsider this forum, even with the bad it is so very constructive if you ponder a while and take nothing personal.
Good Luck

...by His grace...

XP8103,

I am not sure you are aware that Sleepy knows more about camping in Walmarts (parking lots, even prison parking lots) than probably anybody that has weighed in on this thread. He also uses his camper considerably more than most. I would rather listen to somebody that camps very often and value their advice than somebody that has tried it a few times or never. Despite his occasional slant on things, Sleepy has knowledge of the Walmart situation. The real problem with the original OP was not Sleepy, it was Iceaxeman being too sensitive. This is not a forum for the faint at heart and this thread is docile compared to the real hum dingers like carrying firearms or not; over/under GVWR; duallys vs. singles; or duallys in snow. Those threads bring out the real opinions and they can be incredibly intense.

I disagree with your assessment with how Sleepy responds vs. iceaxeman's sensitivity. If Sleepy made any attempt to show he was kidding, just ribbing or poking fun, we would see a smiley or some form of headsup that he is just being sarcastic. Beingst that he does not, will not, and has not made any attempt to apologize like an intelligent man would do, then I see it as he was serious and his comments were done with the intent of calling iceaxeman a liar, or disgruntled campground owner.

This is not the first time Sleepy has popped of like this to someone here, and for no value added reason. To judge someones sensitivity over another persons trolling, is not cool in my book.

It's great that Sleepy uses his frugalness to save a buck by staying for free in various parking lots hundreds of nights a year, and not paying the sometimes ridiculous high prices for a night in an established campground over what the rest of us do. This does not make him God of the TC world. Remember many of us stay at Wal*Marts, and other off the beaten path overnighters and do a fine job of understanding how it works, without being a "stiff noodle" about it.

I for one will continue to call him out publicly when he pops off this way.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got back from a trip to Assateaque Island, Maryland where I spent my first night at a Wal-Mart in Berlin, Maryland. In the morning I went inside and picked up a few items and mentioned to the cashier that I appreciated being able to overnight there. She immediately said that it was not allowed (county ordinanace) and that if I had been caught it would have been a $500 fine. She said that the local hotels, motels, restaraunts, and campgrounds had pushed for this ordinance. Last month I encountered the same thing in Bar Harbor, Maine. I've also seen it in Las Vegas, Nevada and Palm Beach, Florida. I'm always given the same reasons.

Now, typically when I overnight at a Wal-Mart, I make it a point to purchase something(s). If I'm there for more than a day, I'll probably purchase diesel and groceries in that jurisdiction (I spent $89.39 at the grocery store that night and $13.54 at the Wal-Mart that morning). But what I hear from these local governments is that you will use all of our businesses while you're here. That doesn't sit well with me. So, from now to eternity, if I'm in a city / county which prohibits me from overnighting at their Wal-Mart, I'll boycott that place and will not spend one penny in their jurisdiction.

It's hard to believe that this is even legal. Just more example of business controlling government.
