Has anyone stayed at this city park. Free? Is it safe to un-hook the trailer and visit the near by NP for most of the day?

Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

I should have added any other suggestion near the Petrified Forest NP.

Stayed there one night last summer and will definitely stay again. Cost is free with no hook ups. We plan on canoeing the lake when we get a chance. It seems far from town but isn't really.

I found this.
"Outside the south entrance of the park, at the junction of the park road and Highway 180, two privately owned gift shops allow overnight parking in their parking lots."
It is easy to tow a trailer inside the park. I did it myslf some years ago. This option might save you from leaving your rig unprotected in a remote location.

My question, is it "safe" to unhook the trailer for 4-8 hours while you visit Meteor Crater or Petrified Forest NP?

If this is the park 5 miles south of town we have stayed there many times. The caretaker lives on site. Hope you not going to stay there in the winter, as in right now.

I did'nt hesitate to leave MH there. We went to town for an hour or so to shop for dinner. As was_butnotnow said there is a caretaker onsite.
