I am amazed that these super large RV dealerships, and auto dealerships, forget that they used to have customer service. It seems no longer important that you my purchase another rig in 5 or 6 years. Obviously it will not be from them. Your friends will probably take your warning and not purchase from them. And many of the reader on this site will at least have second thoughts. All this over a tank of gas. Happy Trails, and enjoy your new rig.

Computerbug if you read into the current post I do not have a perfect rig. If you take note on previous post I have problems with my slide and water valves, and I know those are covered under warranty, and I will take these to a different dealer to get them handled. I am not sitting on this site to moan and complain about getting the worst experience, because I know it could be even worse and more promises could be ignored. I am merely trying to get the word out that I had a bad post experience with Mike Thompson's and that is anybody takes anything away from this is don't "trust" the sales person with the follow up. I am here to merely speak about my experience knowing that the $200 for the gas and remote is gone.

Wait a min. You got a perfect rv the 1st time out and you are complaining about a tank of gas and a remote that could be program to your present tv? You have way too much time on your hands.

And for the remote part the 08 Raptor uses an Alpine DVD player that is attached to an Olivia TV. I looked at all the Best Buys and all of the Radio Shacks for a universal remote that handles both components. I had no luck and after 2 months and 2 trips out I needed to buy a $60 remote to control the DVD player.

And this is not my first experence or first rig. I had a 26' Ragen trailer before that I picked up from Simi RV and they did a great job taking care of me the first time, on time, everytime. I out grew and tried to keep up the "Jones" and went bigger. Too bad Simi RV didn't carry the Raptor or I would have gone back. In all honesty I almost spent more for a Ragen with a worse floor plan to keep my business with Mike at Simi RV. Mike Thompson's didn't go the distance for me.

Sorry for the long reply.

And yes if anybody is looking the Raptor is a great rig. Would recommend it to anybody that is looking for a 5th wheel toy hauler.

Happy trails.

Phartlov, welcome to the forum.
I just noticed this thread, and felt that more than the original post, the general responses deserved my reaction:

It is easy for one to say you are making a big deal out of something small.
BUT, there are numerous venders to buy from.
Today it is a very small world.
How you feel and how you are treated is EVERYTHING.
No one here has the right to say your feelings are trivial.
No one here should minimize your complaing.
While the remote and gas might have little value, this was an issue of principle.
Those items were part of the package, and in some way might have swayed you to purchase from this vender rather than another. By them dragging this out, and being non responsive, they effectively are expressing their lack of respect for you as a person.

NOTHING can be more important! IF they do not value your right to be able to count on their promise, and your right to feel slighted, when even IF due to an employee's incompetance you experience stress, then we all should be concerned.

Your time, and emotion is important. The fact that you had to make numerous calls, and spend time posting this, is a pain that counts against their desire to be successful in business by caring about you.

It is unfortunate that while venders are not permitted to post here, vender sympathizers feel that defense is proper even when it is actually counter productive.

Phartlov is upset. He should not be upset. Something upset him.
The dealer can make him happy. The issue here is not IF he should be upset, BUT rather why any dealer would not just take care of it.

Ultimately, the number of complaints any vender gets will be proportionate to what they deserve. You cannot please everyone. A shopper, will no doubt hear great praise from numerous PRO vender sites and should research sufficiently to judge unballanced customers who complain for no reason from those that in numbers have a reason.

This site should be for RVers who can tell it as they see it.
But when a person complains, usually they have already gone thru more than they expected, and I think they should be given the benefit of the doubt here.
Invariably, it seems that after a few pages of responses, the tide always turns towards the vender, and this lessens the ultimate value of this site for everyone.

Just my humble view.

So just an update... I recieved the remote from Mike Thompson's yesterday, well more it came from Keystone since I spoke to the Keystone rep about not getting the remote from the dealer.

And Mike Thompson's sent me a $5 check for some DMV taxes they over charged for. Looks like they are trying to get the deal right. Amazing that it takes more than 2 months to take care of 200 bucks. (still waiting on the $140 check)

Hey that is great! Thanks for the update. Sometimes it only takes one badly trained person to gum up a whole long hard frought for reputation. Hopefully it only takes one to sound that alarm and make a difference for all.

I do believe in some cases you really can not please everyone. Sometimes we have expectations that are just simply unreasonable...Stop. look back and evaluate the entire transaction. In my humble opinion, many more major issues could have gone wrong...

Mike Thompson has their share of problems like any other dealer. I have bought from them, and we are very happy with our trailer.

One thing I did learn, when asking about service, contact the Service Department, not sales. Like most places, service drops off from these after the sales person is paid.

For the gas money, ask for the Manager, then then the owner if need be. If your calls are not returned, I doubt that more calls will change that. Call someone higher up the line - from what you said about the remote, I think you found one place.

Last, you can always small claims them. If it was my $200, I would. Just for payback.

Last - like many have said on here, NEVER take delivery of the unit until ALL of the items promised are in place. Then you don't have this problem.

We took delivery of our 08 Discovery 39R DP in July of 07 from MT of Santa Fe Springs. We were treated great! They delivered our coach when promised and everything was in order including the paperwork. Our salesperson was the best, he even provided us with his cell number should be encounter any challenges, which we did. I had the need to call him several times and he responded promptly with the information. After several shakedown trips, we have had to have our coach in for work in there service department and they were great as well. I would recommend them to others and will purchase from them again.

I very much sympathize with your plight. I too was a customer at that shysters party. We bought our first class A there. Now I do realize its completely my fault. First I paid about $8000.00 to much for my coach. I didn't do my home work. You see, the salesman was so caring and concerned about my welfare that I got sucked in hook, line and sinker. I got the same thing after I finally picked up mine too. Its a long story but the bottom line is Mike Thompson RV will take you to the cleaners any chance they get.
