I am always amazed at the number of complaints such as this. I just don't understand why or how a company that deals in customer satisfaction would let a simple fix like this get so far out of hand. They spend tens (or hundreds) of thousand of dollars on commercial advertising and then choke on a simple "fix it."
If the salesperson were smart he/she would have simply taken the the hit on the promised items and then pursued reimbursement through the company. It would have been a small investment in his or her part that would have been returned ten fold in word of mouth POSITIVE advertising. As it stands, both the sales person and the Mike Thompson's RV have experienced negative results that potentially will cost them thousand's in unrealized sales.
In short..... "Pay it Forward." JMHO
See you out there,

Have you read the other complaints about Mike Thompson Rv? They have a bunch. Real popular place.Nothing stops you from standing right there in their building and calling the factory reps and making MT Rv look stupid in the eyes of the manufacturers. Pose the important questions and let everyone hear the answers at the same time.

All too many times, RV dealerships or other businesses get blasted on here, and due to RV.net's rules that prevent commercial businesses from posting, we only hear one side, and the one being blasted does not get to defend themselves. Its one of the reasons the Open Roads Forum is frequently known as the 'Closed Roads Forum' around other RV related forums. It isnt really open discussion, when we never get to hear the 'other side' to stories like this.
I agree.
Especially since it's the OP's first post, we're a little leary of stuff like this.
It is possible this is little more than someone "trying to get back" at someone else.
We should ALL take this post with a grain of salt, insofar as we don't have the benefit of the WHOLE story.

I completely understand what you are getting at and I would be leery too. The fact of the matter is I have already posted this same blog at powerstrokedesiel.com where I normally post but since this is a RV inspired site I thought you... The consumer should know what I have been dealing with for 2 months.
At this point the $200 is lost and I don't care about it. I now take my RV to Spires RV to get it serviced and I love the place. So far so good. But as they say it takes years to build reputation and only moments to lose it. I wish I had read a blog about not shopping at Mike Thompson's before buying there so Spires could have made the money on the purchase and therefore treated me more kindly in the future.
Now I have burnt that bridge with Mike Thompson’s and will never work to get it back.
Now really think about what I just said and think of all your experiences dealing with RV's. If I really wanted too burn Mike Thompson's wouldn't I say something to the effect of my RV fell off the back of my Truck? Or they promised 500 bucks or a thousand. These people only stuck me for $200 out of my pocket and I just want everybody to know…
If you want to make sure you get what you are promised. Make sure you leave with it. Don’t let the sales person say yeah next week end then next week. Until Merric stopped picking up my calls I believed him to be an amazing sales person.
Again thanks for your time.

Call 'em up and tell them you gave them a bad review on a popular RV forum and you got your word across, it may change their tune.

My delivery was delayed at MT. I refused to sign the loan until all was what I expected and agreed. I came back the following week and all was in proper order. They have been real good with requested warranty work.
Rather than multiple faxes and calls I suggest you take the written agreement down and very nicely discuss the details in person. Good luck.

Wonder how many positive experiences people have had over the years. Seems forums are inherently negetive, the bad reports far outweigh the good. Way too easy for people to get on and say beware this or that. It would be nice to hear again when the problem is solved, as I'm sure it will be.

I guess my feelings on this are "small potatoes". You just spent upwards of $40K. Yes you should get your remote. I'm sure that they will get it to you. You get more flies with Honey than Vinegar.
Also wanted to add: We are VERY satisfied Mike Thompsons customers. We have had our rig in twice under warranty issues. (One being having the entire front end cap replaced due to fiberglass disentegration). Once in LaMirada and Once in Colton. Excellent service in both places.

I bought my trailer from that very same Mike Thompson's. All I can say is---get your hitch setup somewhere else! They have great prices, not surprising since they are the largest. But they like to roll the cost of that hitch into your loan. They charged my nearly $1500 for a reese dual cam setup and another $500 for a receiver hitch. Then I came on here and saw that the reese was about 1/3 the price and the receiver was 1/2. On the bright side, they are very through in the walkthru--they use a retiree who who rv's to walk you thru and explain all of teh stuff. They give you a nice little starter kit with every rv purchase and provide a notebook with all related documentation, who to call for various warranty issues, service locations, etc. And, a biggie for us---I told them my truck size and the salesman stuck to trailers within my limits. He also provided training on hooking up and what to look for in a properly setup hitch and training on how to tow the trailer. Overall, the expereince was professional, but they really screw you on hitches and their parts department.
