We live in SW Florida and go to New York via 81, then turn east at Scranton and take 84. Is there a reason you go via Fredericksburg?
We think the best route is to stay on 81 to 77 go through Charlotte to Columbia, then take 26 to 95. You will miss a lot of the heavy traffic on 95 going that way. The last rest stop in Georgia, about 3 miles to the FL line, is a good place to stop. There is a Flying J a couple of miles before the rest stop where you can fill up, usually a lot cheaper than in Florida.
Where are you headed to in Florida?

There's a Flying J located about 25 miles south of Fredericksburg, VA at I-95, Exit 104 in Carmel Church, VA. I've been to this Flying J in the past, and quite a few RV's park overnight. More info. here.

We use the FMCA road atlas that shows the good Flying J stations. From MA to AZ we always refueled at Flying J using the atlas as a trip planner.

Be sure and read "Booted Out Of A Rest Area?" thread and get some insight of VA rest areas.

There is a Flying J just as you get into Virginia on 81. Also on 17 between 81 & 95 there are 2 truckstop that have good prices. As 1492 said a Flying J at 104 on 95. I would check http://www.dieselboss.com/fuel.htm.
They have the major truck stops with there prices. This is where I go before leaving. Prices vary so much it's hard to say which station will have the best prices at any givin time. Often times Loves has better prices than FJ.

I agree having travelled this route a number of times unless there is some compelling reason to travel from Winchester, Va. on Rt. 17 to Fredericksburg, Va. I do not see the reason to go the route Serge plans to use.
