I know I have posted numerous times, just looking for feedback for a summer seasonal spot in the mountains north or ne of Phoenix, which tailers to kids. Welcome your feedback. I have narrowed down to Lolomai, Payson RV campground, Elk Pines, Distant Drums or Munds. Any other suggestions? Thanks again!

Have driven thru Lolomai and did not care for it. Have stayed at both Distant Drums and Munds Park several times. DD is a very nice park. Munds was doing some expansion and, by now, should have their new pool in as well. It has a large resident population. Don't know the others.

Hi
I have not heard the term Reach 11 in a long time. I helped to design the park with a Landscape Architect many years ago. We used to go out and stake out the park back in 1978 to lay it out.

I am a Phoenix native, here is what I think :
North Phoenix RV Park - only if you don't have much cash, this is the type of place where you see some of the residents taking twelve packs of beer home before 3 PM every day.

Desert Edge - OK. Just OK.

DESERT SHADOWS RV RESORT - this place looks very nice, as I drive by it pretty much every day. But it is 55+.

Scottsdale Trailer Corral
Nice location in the heart of Scottsdale, so you are close to the densest collection of shopping and restaurants in the state.

Williams AZ. An hour to the Grand Canyon, Volcanic crater, Indian ruins, Sedona, Slide Rock, jeep rides, caves, and the planetarium. Two hours to petrified forest, with lots of hiking trails, and a great ranger exhibit, and about the same to Monument Valley, will jeep and stake bed truck rides or guided hikes.

My vote is for the Circle Pines KOA in Williams or the RV park attached to the Williams train depot. I've stayed at both. You'll have cooler temps than the Camp Verde or Lo Lo Mai spots- it really is only 10 degrees or so cooler than Phx. The KOA is great! Kid friendly- indoor pool- play area- bike track- backed by National Forest- cafe in summer. The Train depot is fun also, but less rustic. You can use the indoor hotel pool, nice playground (but across a street), clean park, walk over to the train for a trip to the Grand Canyon, kennels on site.

We have narrowed down our summer choice to Distant Drums, Circle Pines and Lolo Mai Springs. I do like the idea of Williams area being much cooler.

Any other feedback or ideas? We will be touring each of those campgrounds in a couple weeks. We also will be looking at the Canyon Motel and RV Park.

Any suggestions are appreciated as this is our first summer in AZ an dont know the areas very well.

Distant Drums will be Phoenix temps minus 5-7 degrees...so it will still be HOT. It does cool down in the evenings which is a difference. Lo Lo Mai being on the creek will be a bit cooler but still only about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix temps. Definitely head North a bit further. Another nice area is past Payson in the Christopher Creek area.
