After researching the typical brands - Atwood, Barker and Ultra-Fab

We bought the Barker. Liked the quality, ease and reputation. Love it.

Easy to install - took about 5 minutes.

Ultra-Fab 3500# here also. Easy to install and it works great.

My only gripe: I wish they would just add $10 to the price of the jack and include the rain/dust cover in the box...rather than sell it separately.

What rain/dust cover? Can you point me to it?

Atwood 2 Barker 5 Odyssey 0 ultra fab 3
Only had one person said anything bad about jacks.
I think I will go with a Barker 3500 with dust/rain cover.
when my ship comes in and I can afford one, or after my Florida trip and cranking becomes to much for an old man like me.

I had the same question a few weeks ago. Based on my reseach here on RV.NET, I purchased a Barker 2500-lb model. I'll be installing it on Saturday (tomorrow).

Well, it's installed and working well. It took longer than it should have, however that was no fault of the jack. It turns out my TT, with it being on the small/lite side, had an attachment flange that was triangle, not round like the Barker. There's not much space between my jack and the battery box. The flange would not properly sit all the way on the tongue, without hitting against the metal brace for the battery box. Since that was welded, I decided to take some material off the Barker flange. I only had to take about an 1/8 of an inch off. So and hour with the Dremel and grinding attachments, I had it mounted. Wiring and testing only took 10-minutes more. It seems to be working well. I need to learn more about this rain/dust cover that others have mentioned.

Thanks. I thought they were going to be some type of plastic molded hood that slides over the top, custom fitted to the head. I'll pass on these, although I appreciate you sending me the link. I can get the same result with a plastic bag and duct tape.

I have also seen plastic jugs used. Just cut the bottom off of a milk jug, etc.

I've had a Barker 3500 on two different trailers I've owned without any problems. You have to let the motor stop before changing directions or you will blow a fuse.
