I'm about to get a new manual slider hitch. Looking at the Signature or similar for the smooth bed. Is it easy or even possible to use the landing gear of the trailer to lift the hitch off the pickup? Will the pins that drop in the holes bind?

With the Signature series would the bed mat need to be cut out around the whole base of the hitch?

I appreciate any info on this or other manual slider hithes.

I lift mine out all the time with the trailer. But, to put it back, I lower it into the bed and drag it into the holes. Bed mat would have to be cut aroung the 4 holes.

I think you could almost cut a hole for each plug in the bedmat , and still connect the rails. I just don't use my mat when I camping, and just throw it over the 4 bumps when I take the rails out. I think you could also pull the hitch up with your pin on the 5er, because the lock pins on the rails are a pretty sloppy fit, which lets them come off without binding.

Thanks for the info guys. The pics were a big help Campingman. Sometimes it hard to visualize something without seeing it in its spot. Much better than a pic of just the hitch.

Are there any problems with the hitch? Likes/dislikes?

I have the Sig series and love it. I also have the Bed Rug down and just cut 4 round holes for the pucks. Looks and works great.
