RCDave,
I take it you don't believe in rules, must be nice. I've yet to see a "quiet" genset!!!
I just make coffee when the genset is legal and keep it in a thermos, quiet in the extremem, not even any banging pots and pans.

Guess it takes all kinds....
For me, nothing can replace the smell of coffee percolating on the stove... I think 'perked' coffee tastes better than the drop. Plus, the coffee is actually hot, not just 'warm' like my home drip coffee maker...
It's great reading all the different opinions. Guess everyone needs to decide for him/herself what works best.

Sorry, I didn't read the first page of this thread to see when that coffee was to be brewed.
Revision - Just make the coffee right right before generator hours end the night before. Then store in a thermos.
FYI - My genset if whisper quiet. However, I don't run it during non-allowed hours

When I was driving a truck, I had a perc pot that plugged into the 12 V power jack. A little slow but the coffee was good.
But I know you want an inverter

I have the Coleman stove top automatic drip and it works really good a bit slow but it does warm up the trailer a lot great for chilly mornings. But a good French press is just a coffee drinkers joy when camping. I rarely use the French press at home but out camping just a tea kettle of water, some fresh grind, and your all set. You'll never be hard pressed for coffee in the mornings....

heat moves the water, the electric ones are the same way, heat.. NO motorized pumps

The same as a peculator (the water "flash" boils and the rising bubbles force some of the hot water up the tube), it just doesn't drain back into the "reservoir" after filtering through the coffee grounds.
BTW, an absorption reffer uses the same principle to move the ammonia to the top.

I don't even mess with percolating coffee, as I put so much cream and sugar in it that the coffee taste is irrevelent.
I use a titanium backpacking cup, with instant coffee, water, and sugar in it - then just sit it directly on a propane burner set on super low flame. It's ready in a couple of minutes with NO noise to wake the DW. I add powdered creamer after it's hot and wala - done. Don't have to open the refrig. Water is from a drinking water jug, so the RV pump isn't needed to do it's noisey thing. I don't wash the cup the whole trip - just wipe it out with a napkin.
I do carry on board two generators and an inverter, however, "just in case"!

Thought i'd kick in my vote for the french press
DW and i take our coffee very seriously and are very attached to our home model as well. we have suffered many a camping morning waiting on various painfully slow coffeemakers. a friend recently suggested this
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/produc........88289&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true
We put in twice our normal amount of grounds, pour NEAR (let stand 10 seconds) boiling water in, let stand 3-5 min, press, and enjoy delicious coffee very fast. get's rid of the friends with their cups out quickly enough too!
Good luck in your search
Rob
