Just got back from the RV show in Greensboro, NC. It was our first show, and we had a great time. We took our dogs (The Paps....Papillons) with us, and had them in a special stroller. We didn't exactly sneak them in, as everyone seemed to come over and chat about them and their own dogs. RVers love dogs, and love to travel with them!! We did worry about getting thrown out, but everyone was very nice...and the Paps slept quite a bit too.

As for the show, we're probably even more confused than before, but just as we've been told by all of you wise and thoughtful people, we were able to eliminate about 2/3 of the Class C MHs from consideration almost as quickly as we looked at them. As I've mentioned before, I'm 6'7" tall, so I would take the first look inside....a lot of these units have 6'6" or 6'8" ceilings, but with the lights and vents, I was bumping my head....that cut them off the list right away. The same goes for the shower area....and most of them are small!! Some have the skylight, which allowed me to stand...sorta :-)

I'm leaning towards the Chevy chassis (more foot room)....though I really wish that they would make at least one of those Chrysler/Mercedes diesel units with a normal bed (not those stupid corner cut beds). We like the idea of 18 MPG, but none had a full Queen bed..... Speaking of beds....again, due to my challenging height, we feel that we need a "North/South" bed, and would rather have the pop-out in the front living area than in the bedroom. Really liked the units that had that storage under the back end.

Prices and discounts were pretty good, though we're not quite ready to spend the money....maybe in a month of two, when our ship comes in. It will also give us a chance to attend at least one more show.

If you were able to make it to the show, we're wondering how it stacked up to other shows around the Southeast??

Is it really worth getting an RV from the show, or is the value still in getting it from the local guy, since he'll probably be doing most of the service work? Money is money, and my guess is that he's got to comply with warranty work...no matter where you get the coach, but we wonder just how much we can dicker with the local guy, based on the prices we saw at the show???

Thanks,
Bill, Claudia, and the Paps

There is also a show in Raleigh Feb. 8-10 at the State Fairgrounds-- in case your ship comes in.
Happy Trails.

I am only 6'1" and in some class C models I cannot put the driver's seat all the way back when the slide is in. So just make sure you check that out. Most dealers will honor the show price for a couple of months after the show. One dealer just sent me a discount notice of $10,000 off select models at the up coming Boston show. Right now with the economy so bad, you can probably get a real good deal. Also most dealers here in the northeast are trying real hard to liquidate the old ford cabs. Good luck.

See you on the road!

Thanks for the info about the Raleigh Show...I had heard about the Charlotte show, but won't be home to attend that one. Raleigh is workable. Can't wait to go to that one.
