So my camper is also wired for a generator and there are positive & negative cables in the generator compartment. These cables already have battery terminals on the ends of them and they are not hooked up to anything... Can I put an extra battery or 2 golf cart batteries in this compartment and hook them up to the existing wiring? This would be in addition to the original battery in the battery compartment. The camper is fairly new to me and I never asked the previous owner about the battery terminals in the generator compartment...

I'm no expert either, but didn't some gensets use the feed cables as generator start cables by exciting the generator and using it as the starter to fire off the genset?

If so, was the solenoid that switched the battery power to the generator mounted on the genset somewhere?

I guess the easiest way is just to see if the cables are feeding battery power and which one is which.

So I wonder if I install batteries in the generator compartment if my in the camper battery meter gauge will monitor all the batteries or just the main battery in the battery compartment?

Guys,

On the Lance I owned and installed batteries in the genset compartment, the plastic bottom tray would probably not be adequate to hold the weight of the batteries. This may or may not be the case for you. Also on the Lance I owned, if it's genset ready the black and white #4's were not landed up front. You will need to at least check, but I bet you will need to find a home for these wires. I had to drill into the battery box and land these wires.

If they're all hooked up the gauge will meter all of them.

Battieries wired in parallel will all drain a little bit of juice from each battery to the TC, at the same rate, hence, your battery meter will be accurate. Likewise, they will all charge from the built in converter/charger, it will just take longer since there's more of them.
In a nutshell, if it says low, they're all low.
