Hey guys and gals. Are you camped in the area of Okeechobee Lake. I would like to go down from Titusville Fl. for a month or so if possible. Being from Delaware and full timing for the last 18 months I haven't been to that area yet. I would like to if I could find a place. Can't find many camp grounds listed although I have been told there are many of them. If you are there and would share some information I would really appreciate it. I have been at Manatee Hammock in Titusville for about a month and am bored already.

MJM $850.00 a month is too rich for my blood. Espically for a KOA. I have not had very good luck with KOA'S anyway. They have about the highest prices and the poorest set ups compared to the independents. Thanks anyway.

I stayed at http://bigorvpark.com/ while looking for property here 3 years ago and thought it was nice. The sites are close together, but I find most commercial parks are. Met a lot of nice people there. If you are interested in that location, let me know what sites they say are available and I'll let you know what they are like. I stayed once, right under one of the street lights and it was too buggy
You may also want to check out the http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Florida/Ortona.html. I really liked it there.

Feb of 2007 we stayed at Everglades Adventure (www.evergladesadventuresresort.com) The Campground was open (no trees) but right on the lake. We enjoyed ourselves, although the only things to do there then was relax and fish (not a bad thing if you like to fish as we do). The only problem that we had was that the town had not recovered from the last hurricane. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and friendly but coming from a rural New Engalnd town it was culture shock seeing that others are not as fortunate as we are.

Ortona South COE is on the Lake Okeechobee Waterway. I just added a review of it in the new review website w/pics at RVParkfinder.
Nice place, but you'll have a hard time getting in at this late date. You can stay for 2 weeks at a time but I'm unsure how they police that.
Anyway it is a good deal cost wise if you are lucky enough to get a spot. I've been checking daily for an some extra days to stay late next month.

Okee-Tantie Campground & Marina. Owned by Okeechobee County. Right on Lake Okeechobee. Very convenient to town. Good fishing.
Okee-Tantie
The map that shows on this web site is wrong. The campground is directly on the lake. Stayed there lots of times.

If you plan on staying on or near the lake I would check on the recreation possibilities. I was there last year and the lake was at only 9.5 feet. The shoreline was out of site and atv's where riding around in the mud. I believe the lake is still 4-5 feet below normal. Whats is it worth to you !
