"That's really not fair, it used to be my favorite hotel when I went with the children, but their grown, and the place is too family friendly for me now. "
Yes, but isn't it nice that over the years Vegas has geared attractions for young families like Circus Circus. Vegas has done a lot to broaden it's recreational activities. (And it's kind of nice that they have a motel that's designed to congregate kids at one one motel). Remember the day (I'm 52 and it doesn't seem that long ago), when Vegas had the reputation of nothing but a strip with cascinos, gangsters, "female intertainment", alcohol, and they gave virtually free motel rooms to get people to gamble away their life? It definately was not a vacation destination for parents with young kids.
To the OP. If you've never been to Vegas before you'll need to brace yourself for something we were not informed about (and television shows about Vegas never show). We are non-smokers. There's a lot of smoking in the cascinos. Even with all the ventelation going on, it's still pretty thick. At Circus Circus we were on the 10th floor (way up there), in the non-smoking wing, and it sill smelled like smoke in everything. We never did get use to this. So, if you are a non-smoker, just brace yourself and be glad you can retreat to your RV at the end of the day and breath that good Nevada air!

We stayed at Oasis October-December 2007 and there is free shuttle service to Silverston and SouthPoint. Shuttle service is offered to the strip for a fee.
Happy RVing!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy s___...what a ride!"-Unknown
Vegas quit trying to be a family destination years ago. Right about when we moved away after living there for 9 years. There are a few pockets of younger oriented things to do, but it's back to Vice Vegas.
To the original poster, not sure which route you'll be coming in, but you might consider Mequite for what you are talking about. If that is not on your route, forget that idea.
In town if you want to "drop nickels" then I'd suggest Sams Town. Lower stakes gambling and more lower prices machines than strip locations. You can always take a shuttle over to the strip to see all the free sights and walk around. If you want to be closer to the strip then Oasis is my suggestion. Again a shuttle is how you'd get to town, but I would steer clear of Circus and that KOA. I worked in news while there, I would not stay there.
If you have kids and want more specific info, you can PM me and I'd be happy to pass some stuff along.

Do you like Downtown Las Vegas? If you're not opposed to being Downtown, a very simple and inexpensive (under $20/night) RV park is just North of I-515. It belongs to the Main Street Station casino. They have a very nice buffet, brew-pub with good micro brews, and a steakhouse called the Pullman Grill that has good steaks and character. There's also a public transportation hub a block away for a bus ride to the strip if desired.
