TRAVELNUTZ/BRAD........Here is a photo of the modification I believe you were trying to explain. Does this look right to you guys?

GBUTALA......Your post mentioned kinks in the lines. Here is a photo of a kink I can't resolve without adding a lot more hose. Is this less or greater than "kinks" you were concerned about?

HaulinFun,

That looks like a pretty significant kink to me...enough to slow down low pressure flow. Those hoses have a fairly thick wall material.

The kink coming off of your regulator is pretty much identical
to the one that I have.

Keep us informed on how much oil you capture.

I had a "natural" kink in my hose from the reg. to the fitting at the entrance to my camper in the propane tank bay. Seems that when the cold weather striked it lost all of its ability to flex and thus created a slowing of the flow of propane. This caused my heater to become very stubborn about starting although it would on occasion, it would make a pulsating sound. All of my other appliances worked just fine adding to the troubleshooting process. Anyhow I know this is slightly off topic now after reading the above threads but I thought it would be a heads up for some.

I think your comments fit well.

I have a friend in the aircraft service business in Kansas City.... he tells me that many time they find that if there has been a kink in the hose the laminations will seperate... the outside will look ok... the inside will be closed off. He says if you cut the hose into you'll see the seperations.

He says... always replace any hose that has been kinked.

Thanks Sleepy, yep the hose is going to get replaced just for the simple fact that unless I manipulate it in cold weather to stay bent a certain way I will inevitably end up with this problem again. My thought is to hard pipe it from the regulator to get it up and out of the way of the tank and to get rid of the rubber hose that I don't really trust in the first place. I will rest better knowing that my hose isn't kinked.

Do you think you'll have a problem with vibration loosening the fittings?

I will take countermeasures, maybe a small dab of loctite blue, just enought to make it not loosen.

TG....Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. I may have to add a lot more hose and route around the tanks. That line goes into the camper and I am not certain of where it is routed beyond the compartment that I can see. Maybe the dealer can do that for me. Or maybe I can just add an extension at the point I can see.

Have to think about this a little as I am trying to be really cautions messing with these propane lines.

Thanks again.

HF ,

You may be able to push a little bit of excess hose out, if you have any, from inside your camper to help straighten that kink.
I wouldn't be too concerned about "messing" with your propane lines.....as long as you turn your tanks off when working on them and "soap" all of your fittings to check for leaks, after you're done, and the system is re-pressurized.

I'll pull the tanks today and see if there is an excess hose to pull out.

HaulinFun,

Your addition is great but I'm not in love with your near kink you have in that hose. I'd add a 45 degree elbow before the low pressure exit rubber hose or simply turn the "T" fitting until the gas exit hole is pointed toward the camper. On our camper, the exit hose goes back between the tanks on it's way up to the camper so any kink problem can't exist.

I see if I can't turn that whole fitting more to move the hose to the back. I recall that I had it pretty tight, so I may also try that 45 elbow.
