We stayed at Nolin Lake State Park about 5 miles north of the Mammoth Cave Park boundaries. Nolin lake has 32 campsites with water and electric. The sites were large, graveled and level. Several of the sites are right on Nolin Lake. This location suited us well and it was less than a 1/2 hour drive to the caves using the small ferry over the Green River.

Happy Camping,

Mike

We lucked out last summer at Mammoth Cave - got an empty host site with electric at the park! It was fantastic (close walk to caves, deer grazing close to our campsite, etc.)- and may be worth a try!

The last two years the family and I have stayed at the Jellystone campground. It just a short drive to the caves and if you have kids they have plenty for them to do while you stay.

A few years ago, we stayed at (I believe) Crystal Onyx Cave and Campground. This place was an absolute dump. They are on this big hill overlooking a valley, but when we were there, they had no water. The owner said on a holiday weekend, we were there July 4th, there is not enough water pressure from Cave city to send water up to thier campground. So, they rented a cheap hotel room for the campground folks to take a shower at. I have a feeling this place is closed becuase I cannot find anything on the Web about them. When I Googled this campground, it sends me to a web site that is not related to Crystal Onyx Cave.

A couple of years ago we stayed at Moutardier, a very nice COE aprk. It's a few more miles than Norlin Lake State Park. For my trip report that includes a few pictures of the campground and lantern cave tour, check out 2006 TN/KY Trip.

Singing Hills is nice and quiet. About 15 minutes to Mammoth Cave.
