Never spent a night out of the rig because of repairs, etc. Each time at the factory or elsewhere for issues we have been able to be home at night. We have lost no time at all with rig problems.

I am glad to read that its a few days here and maybe there.
The question about the "back-up" plan had to do with break-downs and what were you going to do if it was a long stop-over. I guess that these things are dealt with and the decisions are made when these things happen and that's ok with me...I can do that.
Thanks for sharing what you have experienced so far in your lifestyle.

Our mh was in the shop for body work. We were told it would be 2 weeks, but it ended up being close to a month. Luckily we were near DH's brother and could stay there. We did get some money from our insurance for loss of use and took a couple of road trips in the toad during that time.

We purchased a used coach and knew that there would be some problems as we got started. Some of them were our having upgrades done, the others were repairs that the previous owner didn't take care of in a timely manner. Over the past 20 months about 6 weeks. Most were at a facility where they had electric at sites (with water and dump available) while waiting for parts. Longest time was 3 weeks at Coach Care in Elkhart, IN - most of it waiting for parts to come in. We just carried on as usual - sight seeing, etc.
We had to leave the coach at the factory when they pulled the slide - that was the only time OUT of our house and we stayed with relatives. That we didn't like - and it didn't help that we both got our first colds in over a 16 months - so we were miserable those 10 days.

I guess most of you have been very lucky. We just started full timing two weekd ago, and have laready spent 4 nights in a hotel waiting on repairs. Our MH caught fire while fueling and burned the wiring harness. Fortunately I was able to get the fire out fast and kept the fire confined to the engine area. It still took 4 days. Hopefully that will be the extent of them for a while.

We've fulltimed for almost 3 years and the 5er hasn't been down for even one night but I was down for a couple of months due to having a knee replaced. We rented a furnished cottage for a couple of months until I recovered. We'll deal with a backup plan when the time comes. Lindy

In a little over 2 yrs. FT, we never lost a day for scheduled repairs/maintenance. We did, however, lose a week, when our 5er got totaled (is that we t-boned means?) and we had to replace it. Lived in a Holiday Inn Express while we bought another and had the pickup fixed. Insurance was pretty good covering expenses and Pontiac RV in Illinois was terrific in getting us on our way again. Lousy way to upgrade though.

I think the term 'lost days due to breakdown' while fulltiming are no different than 'lost days from a breakdown' while on a 2 day vacation trip away from home.
Full timers don't do it any different.
We all get cranky about the breakdown, then make arrangements for getting the RV into service and arrangements where to stay if it takes longer than a day, same as anyone else!
Psssst, except that we don't have to 'worry' about the day lost.....
because 'we' don't have to be back anywhere at a specified time!
