If it were me I would go east or north east. If you go west there is a lot of country that looks like yesterday.
I would Head into Arkansas, Southern Missouri, Tennessee and on.
That would allow you to see some country and still park early and enjoy your new toy.

By now I'm sure you've got the picture. There is just to much out there to see. Man what a country we live in and you can wonder all over and don't even have to get a permit from the government to do so. Slow down and don't try to go to far or all you will do is drive and that is not what it's all about. Don't try to see it all at once or you won't really see anything. From where you are, what about heading straight north checking out the sights on your way up to Natchez Trace, follow that up toward Mammoth Cave, figure out a circle heading back west and slowly work your way back home. Ok. has neat places to visit as well as Mo. etc. When we want to see the country, we have many days we only go 100 to 150 miles. Many of those who have responded are full timers and don't realize how fast 3 weeks go by. Slow down and smell the roses, daisies, tulips, grass, whatever is out there. Example, when we wanted to see s.w Utah, we spent 5 months there. Davis Mt. area, we stayed at Big Bend Ranch State Park for 6 mo. to explore and really see that area, but that is a fall or spring trip. Summers there are like Death Valley.
Have fun and take your time.

Hey Midnight!(breeze):

I was born in Duluth and grew up in Virginia, MN. Earlier in my career I worked for MN Power at their plant in Grand Rapids. Now religated to living in the land of cheese. Never, Never, Never say things like I won't liver in WI, I won't go to school in WI and I won't marry a redhead. (Did all three and life's pretty good, but they can't take the purple blood out of me!)

Did you see the amount of snow they had a Wolf Creek Pass lately? Snow sheds are pressed to the limit! You are so correct when letting people know when to travel. Summer is great!!!! Winter, you might want to go light and bring your skis. Love the area. Wish I could live there for a little while.

Take care!

Cheato :-)

Hey Mustycovers!

Well, hello to a fellow native Duluthian Too bad about dem packers, eh? LOL. But seriously, I guess those cheeseheads aren't so bad...we go to a country fest over there in Wisconny every year (Hodag, up in Rhinelander) and we always have a great time, really friendly folks. Sure, we catch a little******for our MN plates on the MH since not many of us Minnesotans make the trip over there, but it's all in good fun. Gotta give it to those cheeseheads when it comes to drinking excessive amounts of beer though...whew!!

Yeah, crazy about the snow out there on Wolf Creek Pass. I thought I was so big and bad moving out there from MN (in CO springs their snow always melts within a couple days), but those high country folk measure the snow in FEET on a regular basis...makes our 91 "mega" storm look like a joke!

I totally disagree with SWMO. The West is absolutely gorgeous, the most beautiful scenery in the world. What do you get in Missouri, trees, trees, trees and lakes, lakes lakes. Branson is a trafic nightmare in summer. The weather is terrible we had tornadic storms in June and flashfloods, if it does not rain, or storm its so humid you just want to sit in your camper. We can't wait to get out of this place in summer and go west. The lakes is fine if you have a boat or you can jetski and swim.
There is just so much more to see and do in the west and you will not have the humidity in summer, plus it cools off in the evening so you can spend a lot of time outdoors. We love all of Colorado and Utah in June is fantastic, it can get hot during the time but its like I said a different heat not the sticky allergy humidity like MO and the east.Last year we went to YS and GTNP it was fantastic if you want to go further north.
The canyons, mountains, Nasional Parks, rivers, forests, small towns its all just great. We did ATV' trails in Buena Vista and whitewater rafting in Taos NM it was so much fun.
Cleary SWMO where did you go to that you come up with that remark about the west, the middle of Kansas???????

Well I've been in most of it, and lived in some of it. I didn't say there was nothing to see or do in the west, I said much of it looks like yesterday. If you travel from Dallas to El Paso it will take a good day, and it won't change that much, not like it will going east. travel from Amarillo to Winslow, a change, but not a big one. The poster is looking to make his first trip, and if it were me I wouldn't want to travel a lot of mileage in a day.
My remarks were intended to suggest that by going east he will see changes and stops closer together and he can stop sooner, and get to enjoy his RV by being in it rather than in front of it.
