Since this is the "hotline" right now for posting, I want to attach a link to my new blog called http://rvfactor.blogspot.com/.... I have posted a serious issue involving NHTSA and the RV industry, and the weight issues we have all been involved in recently. Suspension becomes an issue when the weight distribution/center of gravity affects the handling of the coach, and NHTSA's recent final ruling WILL affect all of us that own motorhomes. Thanks for letting me intrude.

So what does the Stabil-Ride package actually contain ?

"STABIL-RIDE (TM) Suspension System
The best just got better. The optional Stabil-Ride (TM)
suspension system integrates parabolic leaf springs,
auxiliary springs, a stabilizer bar and tuned shocks, designed
to provide a low maintenance, stable ride comparable to
the ride of a diesel pusher. Enjoy unsurpassed handling
with reduced body sway particularly while cornering and
superior straight-line stability."

I can drive mine with one hand on the wheel like a car. I also have the stabil-ride, which came from the factory. It must make a huge difference, because I am just not experiencing sway, dipping, leaning, marshmallow wheel or problems when being past. I can cruse at 70-80 with no problem, but I try to stay around 65 to get better mileage. I experienced 30mph crosswinds on top of a large bridge today and it certainly got my attention and had to drive with both hands and stay alert. Not perfect, but as good or better than anything else I have driven. I can talk on the phone from the cab while driving and carry on a conversation with no problem. I'd like to put another couple thousand miles on it under more conditions and post again.

Our 2004 GS Endura did not come with Stabil-Ride. GS started putting it on all Kodiak in 2005. When we went to the GS rally in Goshen, IN last June. Bought the kit for $200. It consist of a 2 1/2" front sway bar (stock is 2") and mounting brackets. Plus a set of extra long rear spring snubber's. They made a world of difference in handling on turns. Already had the Bilstiens on MH. Prior to installing the kits, any turn marked for reduced speed had to be driven at 5 to 10 mph less than the signs stated. I can now make these turns at or above posted speeds.
For Jayco owners. Stabil-Ride is put on their 19,500 chassis's. But not on the 22,000.

Can this "kit" be purchased through Chevy? thanks

I posted a link earlier to what looks like the location in Indiana that may be installing the unit on the Gulfstream products. I think it is stabil-air.

Their newest product has the old products and what looks like a hydraulic creature feature that can be controlled while in operation. I believe the new and improved package was about 5k installed. They probably offer the previous model for a lesser price.
I can tell you that GS designed my coach with a very small steering wheel which gives me the feeling of driving my suv instead of a large coach. On the highway, I can't tell I am driving a large rig without looking in the side mirrors. I put the little lady behind the wheel for a test and she had no problem or intimidation on the open highway. It has a very tight turning radius also.
I guess I was lucky mine was fully rigged upon purchase. It says on the website that the package comes standard and it appears they may be obligated to install it on the coach for safety reasons.
Hope this helps and may be an alternative to the Henderson products and with some luck, Jayco or GS may install it for free if it wasn't included.
I will try to get some photos of the actual products for future posting.

I recently called Henderson and their recommended parts without springs was over $4100. plus shipping and installation and your still on leaf springs !

I guess, to me spending that much to improve what already works would be excessive.
My suggestion to Seneca and Four Winds owners. If you do not have the 2 1/2" bar on front of your Kodiak. Spend the $200. It just might be the answer to your handling problems.

Ron- Which front sway bar are you referring to for $200. The Roadmaster that Henderson sells is $602. But $200 sounds more like what they should cost.

Now does it seem like the handling problems are more related to who put the box on the Kodiak (Jayco) ? It appears there are more people with Jayco's complaining about handling than the people with a GS that have Stabil-Ride.
