My experience with the big air mattresses is not good and I've had several.
Now when I tent (usually I take my teardrop trailer, which is lie a hardwall tent) I either take my thick, heavy thermorest pads, or those and a pair of aluminum cots. That makes a very fine combination, but it can be bulky.

Wow, thanks for all the advice, guys. It is helping me see what type of cushion below the sleeping bag is going to be best for me. This is a great board and all of you are terrific people. Glad I found ya'll here. Thanks again and I'm checking into what is out there.

You got that right! Nothing works better for so light and compact.

My wife and I use this Coleman Queen Size Double High Air Bed.
We have used it down to 34 degrees and have had no trouble with it. Neither of us are small and we do just fine with it thanks to those support coils which make it very firm when fully inflated. We own 40 degree extra large sleeping bags and use them with liners when worried about the temperature. It has been a great bed. I tend to check it at night rather than filling during the day so perhaps that is why I don't run into issues with softness due to temperature variation. We last used it for a solid ten days of camping in Yellowstone.

Worth it? Depends on age.
30 yes!
Also temp could be a factor. Warm nights in Florida, I prefer an air mattress with sheets.
Tent in the snow, my -20 bag gives me plenty of comfort with a 1" thermarest. I've had my best nights of sleep in negative temperatures and elevation over 10,000 feet.
I have a cheap target air mattress I use for cub scout camping. Seems to hold up fine.
