I've read in different places that a Nokia brand phone is the best phone to get for the clearest calls and best reception even in fringe signal areas. Any experiences? Any other brand phones that will do the same? Any particular model numbers?
My first couple of cell phones were Motorola and then I tried a Nokia... I Have had only Nokia since early 1990's and would not have any other brand..
Beware of the "LG" brand... I have never owned one ... but the people I have talked to who did have an "LG" phone said it was terrible...
But, as I said, I have never had one... I think you won't go wrong with a Nokia.

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved. The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

Well.. I don't know that there is a best, That said, I wear a Nokia and am very pleased, I've also used Samsung and Ericcson and Motorola (Analog) Wes pleased with all save that the Ericcson's came with some screws loose that drove me batty for a while... And SONY-Mail in service is not a friend of mine (It is Sony-Ericcson now) The Nokias have worked and the only reason for replacement was serious physical damage
now, if you ask me what company is the WORST.. I've never carried an LG phone, I have, however dealt with personally 3 LG products and professionally with about 100 of the same catalog number
OF the three (Two microwaves and a vcr)
One: Is the only model of Microwave I've ever seen without a START button (or COOK button) on it, you put your food in , close the door, twist the timer knob and it starts... You open the door before the timer runs out, remove your food and in the case of the office where
I use to work it caught fire, Thankfully a quick witted co-worker extinguished it in time to prevent a disaster.
Three: Zenith VCR, Zenith used to be a quality American brand but sold out to LG, they used to advertise "The quality goes in before the name goes on" Well, not that the LG name goes on, I wonder where the quality goes, it sure did not go in. Unit would not pull a T-120 (JVC tape too)
It is a fairly simple adjustment, I could have done it but it was easier (And a lot more fun) to dump it and pop a Panasonic in its place.. Panasonic by the way was JVC's partner in the design of VHS, The Panasonic was removed from service and is still working 100% (I'm selling my house, I have two Panasonics)
I almost forgot the catalog number I dealt with professionally, some years ago I sold pre-IBM computers, Goldstar won the contract to make the monitors We sold dozens of them and well over half came back under warranty.. OVER HALF. Worst warranty return rate I've ever seen
The contract was never renewed. Magnavox got the next contract. I never saw one of their monitors come back and in fact own one myself.
As I said: I have never carried an LG phone, and I Won't either!

It is funny how experiences differ! I had nothing but problems with Motorola phones and replaced them one at a time with LG. I have four now, and they have worked very well. In fact, the first cell phones I have not had to replace the batteries in.
I agree that LG microwaves, VCR's etc are bad. I remember those Goldstar monitors! I think the computer they came with was Sanyo and ran CPM on the 8080. I'm glad those days are over....

Ditto for me and my LG VX 9900 Env. It has been the best phone I have owned to date. I think that cellphone carrier service provider has a lot to do with how well a cellphone performs. I have Verizon and get reception in more remote areas that I couldn't get a signal established with other carriers.
I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.
LG is the old Gold Star electronics firm. I've had three LG phones. The only problems I had were problems I created. They worked great for me. I also now have a VX 9900. I love it.
I suspect if you ask 3 people their opinion on any brand of phone, you'll get four opinions on how good or bad it is. Everyone is right. You probably won't go wrong with a Nokia. I personally believe that also applies to LG.

Life is too short to worry about how short life is.
Hi, I have had 2 Nokia phone an had good service from them and I had a LG and the clerk would say " you have one of those and I would say hey you recommended it" . They had 1100 bad phones that they replaced. The screen would go blank and you had to reboot the phone. I find my nokia great and I bought a good one not the yahoo ones that they give you with a contract. I purchased my phone outright and I own it. It is insured for 2 bucks but no contract. They make you sign a two year deal and it costs $175.00 to beg out.I am a free agent with no ties. I can walk away at anytime and get any carrier I want. Another thing I will pass on is my present phone has a camera and I use it at work to take picture of a unit before I take it apart. if you go to work on your trailer an are going to disassemble something if works great when you ask yourself , " was on theis way or that way" a quick look a the picture and you day has been saved. My next phone will be another Nokia and a fried is on his third LG this year all with screen problems. Nice talking to you
I have a Nokia 6340i and have had no problems and this is a really old phone. My kids are getting a little embarrassed by how archaic it is, so I've looked at the Nokia's out now and get confused by what all they do and hate to fix something that's not broke. I'd love to find another Nokia that's as good.
I see I'm not the only one who loves LG not in the least.
I should add, as a union member, ex steward, ex-local VP and convention delegate I know a bit about Goldstar's Korean factory, how it operates and.. Well, I'm going to give you the short version.

It is a "Company town" and Mr. Ford's song is actually the NICEST thing I can say about it. It gets worse once you get your loan from the company to buy your nice new house.
