Not sure about Canada but here in US you shouldn't have any problems finding diesel but there are still some stations that don't carry diesel. If you're pulling a trailer you'll notice if the station is too small for you to get into then they probably don't have diesel.

I like to use truck stops anyway because their tanks are used alot and hopefully it keeps the fuel from sitting and drawing contaminants. Diesels don't run as good as their gasoline counterparts with a little bit of water in the fuel.

I've had problems finding diesel (late at night) a couple times.

Once, I was moving my daughter home from PA and I was going through Hornell, NY late at night (expecting to fuel up and continue down the road). At that time, there was no place that had diesel after 10 PM. We ended up getting a motel room and spending the night.

Another time, I was coming home from NY City (again at night) and could find no diesel fuel from Plattsburgh NY to Malone NY. I ended up making it home, but it was close.

I guess what I'm saying is diesel isn't always available late at night in some remote areas. When you're under half a tank and find fuel, fill it (if you're in unfamiliar areas)!

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

Finding it...never a problem. Paying for it....now that's a different story.

Only 7 Flying J stores don't carry ULSD. Only 25 of the 207 Love's don't carry ULSD. I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, in two years only ULSD will be available.

If you have an aux fuel tank, you can just drive until you find diesel. I had 75 gal capacity in my F550 and have 250 gal capacity in my Volvo. At 9+mpg towing, I can drive 2000 miles without filling up. However, fill ups can be extremely expensive.

We are planning a trip to Baja and was told ULSD in not available in Mexico at Pemex. Not an issue for us, but you might want to check for changes.

When we first started pulling with a diesel nine years ago, we sometime found it hard to find diesel (when we needed it) on the backroads. Additionally, some Mom-and-Pop stations were too small to get into with our fifth-wheel. We started carrying a five gallon container in the back. We have only had to use it a couple of times but it provides a good feeling whenever we are getting close.

How 'bout it! When I bought my truck, diesel was about the same price as regular. Sometimes less but usually a few cents more but below midgrade. Now it's consistantly more than premium!

Let's see 250 x $3.29 = $822.50 Ouch!

Better be a high flow pump at a truck stop to fill that bad boy up.

It's my daily driver and I have a tendancy to use the whole tank before I fill back up and it irritates the snot out of me when the pump shuts off at $75.00 because I have to wait for it to finish pumping since it slows down at around $73.00. Then I have to go through the whole swipe my card again thing to finish filling my tank. If you're gonna charge me $3.25+ a gallon at least you can let me fill my tank in one shot.

I have solved this problem by selecting "credit" instead of "debit" when paying at the pump. That usually gives you a $100.00 limit instead of $75.00 and lets you get a little closer to full.
