I'd do anything, (almost) to get out of the discomfort of my shoulder's pain before the MRI and surgery. The surgeon can't help you unless he has the MRI to read. My bone-spur stuck out on the MRI like a big dog on my outbound right shoulder bone. The surgeon knew exactly what to go after, and what was causing my symptoms. While he was in there, he removed all the bone under the shoulder bone that was loose, and "cleaned-up" my rotator cuff. I'm on my way back to lifting weights again........yaaaaaaaaa! And what's more, I'm back riding my antique motorcycle again, and other than dropping a few thousand dollars for the surgery, I'm ready to roll and well on my way back to normal.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Wishing you the best Frankjake!!!

My Frank had an MRI yesterday also for his back pain. His was an open MRI, at least he said the sides were open but not the top. Guess that meant it was an open MRI?!? He said that he kept his eyes closed, he thought he would get claustrophobic (which he could easily do).

Wonder how they determine whether you get an open one or not? He didn't know when he went what he was in for.

He was glad it was over too!

I'm glad you made it through. I hope the scan shows what is wrong and that it is nothing terrible.
I never went through having the facegaurd thing, sounds like i'm glad of that. Don't suppose a towel over the eyes would have worked for that.
Next time, if there is a next time, take the Xanax sooner, I think it would calm you sooner.

My goodness, why'd you wait so long before taking the Xanax? It probably didn't start working until you were about done! Glad it's done, now the wait begins....................

Well when they called to confirm the appointment I asked if it was and open or closed machine. They siad closed (tube). I told them I would be bringing the Xanax. They said to come early to fill out paperwork. I took one before I went, but I just assumed they would tell me when to take it again, they didn't want me to take one BEFORE I signed everything. Legal reasons I guess.

So I already had one in me and you are right, the other one probably didn't do any good until almost done.

I'm hoping it's just a pinched nerve, shoulder and arm is in extreme pain all day long, came on suddenly and doens't hurt any worse if I move around a lot. I've tried to twist and turn an all different directions hoping to "break it loose" he he he but hasn't helped. So I have no idea... But should find out in a few days.

I should add, it really wasn't as bad as I had expected. Closing my eyes was the key and the tech person constantly talking, telling you how long the next scan will last and asking if everything is okay. I wouldn't want to do it again but now I know I can if needed. So anyone needing one and dreading it, it's not as bad as you may think. I hate to say, if I can do it, anyone can.

Frank a few years ago I had a pinched nerve in my lower back that was causing my entire leg to go numb just like you described. It went on for months and I eventually scheduled surgery to have it fixed. About two weeks before the surgery I woke up one morning and the problem was gone and never returned since. Something must have moved around in there and unpinched the nerve. My doctor said that happens sometimes.

I might be looking at a 3rd one for my back. We'll find out next week. The first two, a couple of years ago, showed a herniated (bulged) disc and I ended up have a microdisectomy (twice).

One thing I found that helps is to have a towel laid over your eyes. Makes a world of difference. And the place I go plays music, which helps too.

Glad you got it done.....I had exactly the opposite reaction. I fell asleep on one and had to stifle the giggles on the 2nd (kept thinking of one of my teachers!)

If the guy hadn't kept saying "ok, this part should only last about.." I would have had a better nap too
He'd said "now don't fall asleep..hee hee" when I went in, when he pulled me out he asked if I had, guess the yawning and blinking of eyes were clues?

I've slept on C130A models......

Did that twice as a 140 lb. teenager southeast of Joplin, once going in and once going out. My dad was right, I was stupid
