This morning the water in our toilet was bubbling back up after being flushed. My husband drained the tank and flushed it out. We have never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Thanks!

We had that happen before, ours was stopped up between the toilet and the tank.

did draining the tank solve the problem???

maybe it was just full and time to drain...

maybe the vent is blocked...

Ours does this when the black tank is close to full.

Run a snake down the toilet into the tank. Sounds like you have a blockage as Texlawdawg says.

Sounds like you might have the dreaded "T-P TeePee", a mound of toilet paper that will cause the toilet to burp or bubble when flushed. It can happen even with a tank flush system, especially if you've remained in one place for a while. I've found the best method is to carry one of the "wands" sold in Wal-Mart or Camping World, with a short length of hose and the fittings to attach it to the bathroom sink fitting. It works well and is easy to use. Good luck!

Sorry but the only thing I can suggest is to take a tranquilizer before sitting down cause THAT would make me nervous

Sometimes the vent pipe extends slightly down into the tank, when the tank fills it can't vent out the roof, so it bubbles back up the toilet

When this happens it is one of two things

1: A warning that you should have dumped YESTERDAY

2: In indication that the vent pipe is slipping down into the tank and needs service

A second condition is nesting critters.. Yes, some critters will nest in the pipe and block it off, thus causing the same "Can not breath" condition

There are ways to fix that

We had something block our vent while getting to an offroad destination creating the pressurized condition. Upon leaving the spot the "stirring of the stew" unblocked the vent pipe and all was well again.
