I'm still waiting to hear from those who are badmouthing the Ford PSD 6.4 liter. It was a known fact that some of the early 6.0s had problems. What are the problems with the 6.4???

Well Howie on the other channel about 80% of the ford owners with the 6.0 have had issues with turbos, head gaskets and head studs no matter what year but not one of the GM or Dodge owners have had any real problems. Even though every one of them ford owners will argue that their ford are the best.

I have an 03 and 06 with the Duramax in them and have had no motor or trans problems with either. I did get a letter from GM regarding the injectors and they extended the warranty to 200,000 because of the known issues with them.

I say stick with what you know and love

With all due respect, the 48RE was not introduced until mid year 2003 with the 305HP engine.

As for the 47RE some people may have had problems. I put 170,000 miles on my 1996 Ram with about 100,000 of that towing. I never had any problems with tranny or engine.....none.

Eighty percent, huh?

Bullfeathers. SHOW me your unbiased, statistically validated information. You CAN'T, because it is more FUD from a person with an axe to grind against Ford, or a die-hard GM or Mopar head. I'll state what my dealer mechanic, who I trust because he is straight with me, that many of the problems with the 6.0 are owner inflicted, with the use of tuners and chips that cause head gasket failures, head bolt stretching, turbo failures, and coolant puking.

For all of the badmouthing of the 6.0, usually by those whose friend of a friend of a friend had problems with them, I have YET to meet a fellow 6.0 owner that has problems. I had one 'problem', a suspected rear seal leak that was traced to an abundance of assembly lube put there when the engine was manufactured by International. In other words, NO failure, just a sloppy mess that went away on its own.

Duramax engines have experienced injector problems. Dodges have problems with transmissions and rattletrap body work. Ford had a wiring loom problem that caused engine malfunctions in the 2003-2004 6.0 engines. 2005 and up 6.0 engines have been remarkably trouble free.

I have 60K on my F-250, the engine is rock solid and the transmission is the cat's meow.

In other words, there is not a single manufacturer that has NOT had problem products. It's how they stand behind their products that makes the difference. I'm very happy with the way that Ford has honored its warranty with my truck.

I am sticking with what I know and love. When you see a Dodge parked in front of my house, either one of two events has happened. I have a visitor, or I have died and my wife's new boyfriend is a Mopar fanatic. When I get a cut, I bleed Ford blue.

My Dodge is an '01, but it is the same truck as the '02 and it has been trouble free in 86,000 miles.
No way I would ever buy a PowerStroke, any of them.
Out of several Dodge's and two Fords that I travel with guess which two have had to be towed, or hauled? I will give you a clue. It isn't any of the Dodge's.

Trouble free???

Owner inflicted.... YES!!!!

Brand new 05' in sig., installed Edge Att. w/ Juice on it with 500 miles on the clock.

Lasted till 30K, blown HG, scored Cyl. #'S 3,7, new shortblock (on Ford), down the road Skippy.

Stock since then. Lost serp. belt at 34K,(left stranded), lost alt. at 35K(made it to FMC dealer), blew hot side turbo hose clamp at 43K(had one on board, 15 min. fix)

SIT in a Dodge or Chevy/GMC...

No comparison.

STOCK, I will keep my 350. It is much more of a TRUCK than the other two.

Been problem free for 1 1/2 years towing 24500# combined twice a month, also as a daily driver EVERY DAY.

Problems... didn't cost me a dime. Wish it had a Cummins... Hell Yes.

Stock, best TV on the market. If I hadn't messed with it, it would have been problem free.

Next year, 09' 6.4 TowBoss in my garage. Cause I can. Ford is a better PACKAGE. not powertrain, PACKAGE. My .000001 worth. C-Ya!!

You wouldn't believe it if I told you that stock 6.0 PSD's also get blown head gaskets's, would you?
Much more of a truck than the other two? LOL
Stock best tow vehicle on the market? Maybe for you. Maybe till the warranty runs out. LOL
Sit in a Ford is all I would do with one.
I am proud for you. Be happy.

Go to the web and type in Ford Diesel Problems. There a link there for all the law suites for the Fords. Think mostly 04 to 06. Have a friend with the 05 350 with the 6.0. He's on his 4th turbo.

Cummins has been around forever and maybe the most reliable but yes I heard the trans was having problems

Chevy/GMC has the Duramax with the Allison trans. Don't think anyone can beat that Allsion. Duramax is the quitest.

What we need is Ford Body, Dodge motor and GMC trans. Not sure what it would be called though.

I'm friends with the same group of guys he's talking about. No statistically valid study, just a bunch of guys with bad Ford turbos. Most of them aren't chipped. I didn't think the Ford turbo issue was any big secret and definitely not FUD.
