For the last two years we have taken advantage of the deal at Rock Crusher where we pay for the year, and can stay up to 180 days, even though we probably never did more than 20 days in a year. It was a nice thing to let us get away last minute without a hassle, as we live down the road in Spring Hill. If we wanted to pick up the rig and drive, no problem!
Well, they sold it and jacked the price. Even if I wanted to pay more, I don't want to be surrounded by park models.
I am looking for suggestions for a similar deal within an hour drive of Spring Hill, at a place that is kid and dog friendly. Anyone have any thoughts?

What kind of price range are you looking for? Most of the parks around your area are turuning into condo parks or they are really old and nasty. We are farther north past Ocala but there are very few kids.

Don't really know what the price ranges are, but it doesn't matter that much. More important is that we have a _nice_ place. I don't want to spend $50/night year round for someplace that we will only be 20 nights a year, but like the convenience of leaving the rig hooked up and piling into the car to visit when we get a weekend off.
Have you checked out the Encore park on Fort Island Trail? If you can get past the no-see-ums, they offer a reasonable yearly rate with no limit on days you can stay there. In all seasons but winter, they are very kid-friendly. The winter finds the park full of snowbirds. Activities in the winter are mostly planned for snowbirds except for holidays. Other times of the year activities are for kids. Dogs are no problem there, either.

Thank you, Dennis. I had never heard of them. I did find them online, but have to call tomorrow. The number is answered now by the headquarters in Orlando. They quoted $4300, but that has to be for someone living there, not essentially storing the RV and stopping by when they have a chance, like us.
