I get slightly over 10mpg, see my sig. for the rig details. That is 60-65 mph in OD running slightly under 2000 rpm. Length and weight are not the deciding factors for gas mileage on reasonably level roads, but speed and aerodynamics are. My current mid-profile 8ft wide 5th wheel is more aerodynamic than my previous low-profile 7.5ft wide unit.
BTW, with an aux. tank, I have greater than 600 miles range towing and 1100 miles solo. Pics at www.picturetrail.com/dayle1/

Larry I have the same truck but a GMC. Did you add a fuel tank? Or did your truck come with 2. Sure would like to be able to get more than only 150-180 miles on a tank of gas.
I enjoyed your pics.
BTW how much does that 5er of yours weigh?
There are people who come into our lives for a season. Although the friendships, associations, bonds and commitments fade in time, the influences gained by these moments never expire. They continually help us grow into the men and women we should be.

The 5'ver is 5000lbs dry, 6500 GVWR. The pics show the extra tank that I added in the bed. If someone wants more range, I would take a serious look at www.tourbuddy.com They make 11 gal tanks that fit over the wheel wells w/o taking up bed space. You can add 1 to 4 tanks at about $250 each. So, 2 tanks would almost double your range.

Well, on a really good day without too much headwind and running a bit under 60 MPH on flat land, I can usually coax about 9.5 MPG from my 250SD w/V10 and #6400 27' TT... But most of the time it's usually 8.0-8.5 MPG...
But that's still a lot better than my previous MH that used to get 6 MPG (big grin)!!!!
Best Regards,

What is a stump grinder, or did I fall for some joke? (I know what a true stump grinder is, and you don't pull anything with it). Elliott

Elliot, I get right under 10 mpg. The last time I checked I recall it was about 9.95. That was on a "loop" trip that was pretty level, and I keep the speed down under 63 mph or so. When I go faster the mpg drops like a dead duck.

Have pulled a 27' Wilderness TT (bunk model) GVWR=6400# with a 1997 Dodge B250 Wagon 360 cu in engine with 3.90 rear end all over the countryside. Never made less than 10 mpg unless bucking a headwind. Mostly 10.5-12mpg towing and 14-15mpg solo. Best of luck and many happy and safe trails to you.
