Finally got the old computer running again so here it goes...
I would like to announce the planning of the first ever RV.NET Iowa Rally to be held on June 20th through June 22nd.
Where you ask?
Sugar Bottom Campground on the Coralville Reservoir
2192 Mehaffey Bridge Rd.
Solon, Iowa 52333
Sugar Bottom Campground
Since this is the first rally of this nature and I'm also a novice I think it should start out rather simple. (this only means it will probably be a full scale production by the time June rolls around)
We will have plenty of things to do during the weekend and I'm sure no one will go away without wanting to do this again real soon.
If you wish to attend the first ever rv.net Iowa rally then please P.M. me with...
Name.
Screen Name too.
How many in your party.
The day you will be rolling in.
Signed up to attend

I'll second that!
Wait, now what about Bob at the Wisconsin Rally??? Oh wait he was the Mummy!
Glen- it says the website is under construction...
How far a drive is it beyond Dubuque? Is it mostly 4 lane road?
Seems interesting - can't be more than a couple hundred miles for us... If we're welcome?

Yes the website is under construction. The manager is having problems with the web designer.
Hwy. 151 from Dub. south goes to Cedar Rapids and it only takes about 65-70 minutes at the most now. I guess I would turn south on Hwy. 1 that starts near Anamosa (about 25 miles before Cedar Rapids) and go south to Solon and then trail through Lake McBride State Park then into North Liberty and jump over to Scales Bend road.
Everyones welcome.

Just got off the phone with the manager and she said that the website has only a few snafus to take care of but she said it was alright to enter. Just pull up www.scalespointe.com and run the cursor to the lower right portion of the screen and the cursor should turn from just an arrow to the finger/hand to signify another goto page then click and enter.
The section reserved for us is the W sites. So far we have ten of those to choose from.

no pool, Sorry.
No beach yet. The Corps of Engineers is very slow at approving things. But There is a beach across the lake I think and I know there is one south just a bit at the Dam access. As I remember Coralville Lake Marina rents pontoon boats on the south end of the lake too.
Lake McBride has a place to rent canoes and small pontoon boats and a very nice beach access. It is a state lake with a no wake zone covering this lakes whole area. Lots of upscale houses hidden away around this one.
I'll post a list of some other things to do in the area soon.

Hi Glen - can't make the rally, but had a question for you about the campground. Wish I could get on their site, but no luck..
Do they have a boat launch and docking at the campground? If so, we might be interested in going there some other time. Thanks. If you know of any other places in the area on water with a boat launch/dock, please share.
