I know how you feel. After the graduation party was over my DW reminded me just how much we spent. (of course practically no help from the ex) I was hoping to go to Ohio this weekend for a race but I guess thats above my spending limit. Plus, this weather just won't cooperate and that causes early short days at work. grrrr!

Forecast this morning for flooding at Coralville reservoir. Expect fishing will be affected and we should go prepared for lots of mosquitoes. With only 2 weeks to go we need a BIG change in the weather.

I'm sure that IF the rain stops we will have plenty of mosquitoes. I'll have to remember to put my torches and repellents in. I haven't carried them for a couple of years. Haven't needed them. All I have ever fished for there were catfish off the beach. Not familiar with what's catchable there.
I'll be there a week so should get a chance to catch something.

We are coming down the 14th. I have been so busy that I haven't got a thing ready to go. It's going to be a busy week. The wife will be working so it will be up to me get the clean sheets on the bed, the cupboards stocked and the dusting done. I usually do it anyway but with the weather forecast it will be a challenge. Mud all over.
Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Have you gotten a little rain on Saturday night Randy? I see where some storms stalled out around your area and delivered up to 6-8 inches in some places. I sand bagged for a while after I got off work yesterday at the Iowa City Animal Shelter and by 5:30 I was beat. A nice weekend with a little camping involved was totally out the window. I came home and didn't move. Just listened to the wind blow.
Yes the lower part of Sugar Bottom is indeed flooded. I can't see any way that it will affect our part or most of the sites in the campground though. Unfortunately the fossil gorge down by the dam i would expect will be under water but the Raptor center should be fine as will Lake Mcbride although it will likely be higher as well.

I don't have a rain gauge out but it rained very hard last night. I have a little moisture in my basement so I will have to check to see if I have a downspout plugged. I've been busy helping a friend out this week so i have been inside most of the time. Should finish today so I'll be able to get the 5er ready for next weekend. Hopefully it dries up long enough to get the lawn mowed next week. I'll be gone 8 days and if I don't get it mowed I'll have to find some sheep. I may also have to find a tow truck to get the 5er out of the storage area.

Glad we cleaned out the gutters yesterday - full of seeds - we have numerous trees around. Heavy rain and wind last nite. Got awakened when two large limbs hit the house. Only dented a gutter thankfully. Our rain gauge showed 5 in. this morning. Street in front was flooded and coming up to the house. With all the warnings about going through water, we still have fools drive through, causing a wake that hits against the house. Now we have small trickle coming in on that side in basement. Since the rain stopped the water has all gone but the ground is so saturated and more rain coming today and tonite.
Keep updating us on Sugar Bottom Mudmaker. If we have heavy rains/winds predicted that weekend, we may just have to cancel and keep an eye out on things here. After the Parkersburg tornado passing by on north edge of us, we get a little jumpy when siren goes off.

Thats very understandable. The guy at work I covered for Thursday and Friday went home and packed his whole house and moved out in 2 days. And then bagged it too. I would really hate to have to do that. The scenic view out the back door of the Iowa river isn't so scenic now.

What is the schedule? Will we get together Friday night and maybe do a community grill or weenie roast. Maybe a pot luck on Saturday? We will need to plan what to bring. Thought about bringing some rhubarb pie but don't know if I can keep rhubarb for a week. I can bake them at my daughter's house. Then again maybe nobody likes rhubarb pie.
Is there somewhere to get firewood. I'll bring some but we will probably use all I can carry during the week. I thought maybe my son-in-law would be able to help me out but I thought wrong. He has some wood but it is all green.
