yeah this snow stuff is fun. I have crawled up a ladder two times so far this winter and cleared off about 18" each time. And it is snowing again and they say it is going to continue for another 8 days or more. It is such a bummer to see that TT sitting there not going anywhere.

Live in N.E. Pa. Have had as much as 2ft. on roof of trailer and not had a problem. Also up the mountain is a small RV dealer & campground & they never clean the roofs of units of snow.

Here's a good question: does anyone know of ANYONE that has had their TT roof cave in from snow loads? I've never even heard of it. I've heard of people's houses having roof problems from the snow - but really, out of all the TT's out there that are exposed to snow loads, what percentage of them cave in or leak? I'd say you have good intentions by clearing the roofs off, but sort of a waste of time...?

I cleared mine after 3' of snow in a month. I feel ok with a foot or more but 3' is just crazy.

I heard my camper thanking me.

I figure if I can stand on it, it can hold the snow. I see a lot of seasonals where I camp and haven't seen a collapsed roof yet...even on the early 70's vintage I see.

I tried to clear mine after 3' once. Broke a vent cover and fan cover even with being careful. Now I just wait for it to melt.

We live in Spokane and we are worried about our house and the weight that is up there. Our TT is under a garage, but we have even wondered about that although it has a slanted metal roof, so should be ok. That weight up there is huge right now. This snow we had was the heaviest I think in records. I would be trying to get some of it off. We just thought about what are the RV dealers doing about their inventory, but then if it damages theirs they won't own them next year. You know more coming tonight

Rondeb,

I live in Spokane too (Mead). I spoke with a friend of mine who works at RNR and he said they have a couple guys pull the top layers of snow off. They don't go all the way down as they could damage vents, covers, etc.

As far as house roofs they said on the news if your house was built in the last 20 years the pitch should be sufficient to handle the load we are going to get. They also said prior to that time is where they see home roofs collapsing - obviously flat roofs are the worst.

My biggest problem is ice dams - I've got a couple on my house that I've really got to keep an eye on.

I brush my roof off before I start shoveling the driveway every time. Last year we have 6inches of the wet stuff then a hard freeze. It all turned to ice and I was worried about expansion damage... All turned out well, but it takes 5 minutes and a ladder to do it so I brush mine off
