Time for a dumb question. I've been rifling through RV brouchures for over a year now, and have been moving along with the assumption that a stainless steel wheel well liner was just what it says...some type of metal liner in the wheel well, I assume for blowout protection. I figured they were a good thing, and after having a blowout on my popup, I put them on my list of desirable options.

Now as I read posts about stainless steel wheel liners, they seem to be referring to the pretty hubcap-like shiny things on the wheels themselves.

Am I getting confused on two different options...wheelwell liners and wheel liners? Or have I been reading the brochures wrong all along?

I don't recall ever seeing any wheel well liners. Sounds like a great idea though except for the added weight. Sounds to me like you have were slightly confused.

Wheel well liners are a part of the RV structure. The shiny things are wheel simulators.

Wheel well liners are plastic. The E-series doesn't really need them because the factory liners up front have good coverage. Other Fords like the 1st gen Expedition have huge gaps between the factory liner and frame, and an aftermarket liner makes it look cleaner and keeps dirt out.

I wish I had "True" Wheel well liners in back. I have very thick heavy duty mud flaps that act like half a liner. But forward of the rear tires there is nothing. It's wide open to the batteries on the right side and the propane tank on the left side. I'd like to do something about it, but I'm lacking motivation. Adding a forward mud flap should do it. Just cut it so it doesn't hang below the rv body.

That is one of the few things I think Phoenix USA could have done better.
