The county has to have some way of paying for beach restoration, a white elephant of a conference center, an emergency operations center only three feet above sea level on a barrier island. and a gold plated courthouse for the judges and lawyers of Okaloosa County.
May I add that the residents were dead set against all of these projects, a referendum was held, the people said NO!
The county commissioners told the residents "we know what is best for you" and built or are building all of those taxpayer funded albatrosses.
Don't blame the residents, blame the "public be damned" government here.

Waynezat is quite wrong - city of Tucson, specifically, instituted a special tax on RV spaces to pay for the "new' (several years ago" Cactus league Ball Park! Still being collected I believe. If you live there I guess you are not aware of this.

Sounds like the voters should exercise their right at the polling booth.

That being said, why does a guest have to pay a tax? Do I use up more resources than a Florida native??

Like I said earlier, legislators prefer to tax non voters. Guests don't vote, except by taking their business elsewhere.

Well I just read all the post on this subject and I fell if you use or have the services made available to you to use than you should help pay for them. I am a Florida native and I pay the same tax as any out of state RV'er. Have you ever used a public library or needed the help of a State Trooper in Florida? What if you take a fishing trip and the boat sinks. Will the Coast Guard Ask if you are a US Citizen before they pick you up. What I am saying is why should an out of state visitor not help pay for the services that they use. Don't try to tell me that if some low life broke in to your rv that you would not call the police or if it cauht fire you would not call the fire department. I know this will not receive favorable responses but I had to put my 2cents in.
