Just thinking of a positive way to use the tax “rebate” to help stimulate our economy. What would you spend you rebate on to help? I am looking at spending on services provided by national, regional, or local businesses. The same for purchasing items from national, regional, or local businesses. Buying imported items made in countries other than the U.S.A., etc. may help us very little and paying off credit cards or putting it in a savings account is said to be of no help or stimulus to “our” economy. What are your ideas and advice? Try to keep this topic proactive, o.k. a little humor, so it won’t get shut down.

I'm not planning on spending it at WalMart, don't think China needs more of our money to boost their economy. I resent people who have not paid taxes getting a rebate. I'd probably buy my DW a special gift made in the good old USA.

Look at buying local items around where you live. Off the top of my head, say honey. If its local it will be beneficial to you in even more ways then economic. I'm sure there are more "home grown" items around you then you think.

Or mail it to me. I've been in the US over 45 plus years.

I think I'll use mine to pay taxes.

I've been here longer than mich60 so send it to me.

I think we'll use it to repay our savings for some of what we're spending on the flat panel TV tonight.

It hasn't passed yet, but when it does, the money will go to debt because we are pushing hard to be debt free.

Just curious. Why would you want it to pass when people who dont pay taxes get the rebate and us who do pay taxes will have to give ours back next year on our taxes? That is what happened in 2001 with that rebate. Just doesnt make sense to me.

I think if you will go back and look at your 2001 or 2002 tax return, you wil see that you didn't pay it back - they just prevented you from receiving it twice!
