My husband & I are planning a camping trip to St. Andrews in Florida in April of 2009 for our 10 year anniversary for a week. I would like some recommendations on a good site. Here is what we would like. A waterfront site with no boulders for the beach. A private lot that is not cramped or too narrow. Our TT is about 28' with one slide. We would prefer some shade as well and of course the view needs to be top notch. I've seen some pics of campsites, but it's so hard to tell how wide the sites are in the pictures, they all look so narrow to me. Also if anyone will be there anytime soon and would like to scout out some sites for us and take some pictures that would be appreciated as well. Also...when is spring break down there? We were thinking of being there the week of April 12th. Thanks!!

I had site 36 last year. I loved it. I know there are other good sites as well. I've got 32 for July 4th week, but it wasn't my first choice.

While we're on the subject of St. Andrews and April..... is it warm enough to swim in April - and can you swim in the grand lagoon, or do you have to go over to the beach side to get in the water.

For folks from Florida it is much to cold to swim in April. You can swim in the lagoon but it is not ideal.

I think you may find the waters in the northern gulf a bit nippy in April, at least it was last year when we were there in April. The "kiddie pool" over at the beach may be a little warmer than the gulf or bay water as it is somewhat trapped by the rock wall where the shipping inlet channel is located. Water there is real shallow out nearly to the wall.
I believe site 112 has a small beach right behind the camp site on the Bay side.
You will really enjoy St Andrews - lots of stuff to see and do down there. We will be there April 19th of this year and can't wait.

We stayed at St. Andrew's for five nights in November and we weren't as enamoured by it as many people are. Our site was #122 and our friends were in #123. Those sites were small and dark. However, we did scope out some good sites such as 72, 74, 80, 101. The first three of those have a much better waterfront than many others. Check out the park map online. If you get good weather, if it's not too crowded and if you get a good site, you might have a fantastic time. The beach is superb.
