We really struggled with our decision to purchase the SN6400. We wanted the towing capabilities, towing a 28' trailer with a Rhino and 5 dirt bikes and everything that goes with that, and the floor plan that would best suit our ever growing 4 children and a price that wouldn't dip into their college funds. Yes, we would have preferred a different engine and we looked seriously at the Renegade, Showhauler, Pony Express, etc. . . . Here's some of the issue we wrestled with. We are family and travel to places were a huge truck with double axle's doesn't belong . . . the California desert and beaches, various camp sites, motocross tracks with grass or dirt staging areas. Could we use more pulling power than what is offered w/ the SN6400 YES! Was it worth $100,000 more? Not now in our current situation. So we climb inclines a little slower, and we accept that. Will Jayco produce a better option and at what price? Time will tell, but at the time we were ready to make our purchase the SN6400 offered what we needed at a price we could handle. You are in a great position, time is on your side. Good Luck!

Very well said and very well thought out. I am struggling with the same thing. Even if i coudl get past the engine issue, which i think I could, I can't get past the Gulfstream issue. I just don't have any confidence in them.

I will end up buying used. Looking for a Kibbe or Renegade or United Specialties for $100k or so.

.

That's probably true since very few folks would put a Gulfstream airplane in their driveway.

By the way -- Gulf Stream makes RVs.

Good Luck! You would have to be looking at a 2000 or older Renegade to get one at that price. Trust me, I have been looking for months. The best deals I can find are 2002 or older and the smaller ones 26ft to 28ft are still $125k plus. I am not sure about buying a unit that is already 6 years old. If you keep it another couple of years, you may never get ride of it (no one wants to loan money on a Renegade that is older then 8 years).

Also, if Seneca comes out with a M2 chassis, it will be pushing $200k. A new small Renegades on a M2 chassis with a 325Hp CAT is $200k plus.

Well...I did say or so!

I just saw a brand new 2006 for $139k. It is not selling. I sent them an email and they came back with a $129k price without any haggling. Hard to get $100k plus for a 2002 when a brand new 2006 is not much more than that. I figure not many people will buy a brand new 2006 leftover inventory when 2009's are coming out. That is the kind of deal I will be looking for.

But, I'm fine for now. Yea...the new Jayco will be in the Bigfoot price range. And they will make it too long (37 foot or longer) and with too many slides (3 or 4). That seems to be the Jayco way. Too bad as that is a nice chassis.

Good luck.

I think I know the one you are talking about. It is in Az. It is only a 26ft unit, and it is not new, it is a factory demo (29k) that someone bought last year. So a two year old small unit for $120k. I don't know???
