another question about my raptor. it came with tie down track system and dealer said to use 1/4"x1' lag bolts. so i used them about 6-8" apart and screwed to floor, but the lags will tighten, but will keep turning after tightening. the track seems to be locked down solid, but thinking i should use 1.5" lag screws to get that xtra 1/2". im thinking the floor is 1"thick, plus 1/4" for the rubber. so maybe 1' lag screws is not enough? have you guys used lag screws in your raptor garage?

Do not know about Raptor, but I would not personally trust that method to tie down anything of value. All tiedowns should, IMO, go completely thru floor, then a big piece of iron, or better still frame, before using bolts and nuts (preferably self locking). Your choice, but think about it IMO.

I used one inchers on mine. You don't want to poke a hole in your fresh tank. It sounds like you are overtightening them, and stripping the hole, or not tightening them enough.

I agree. I put eight grade 8 bolts on each end of the track (four top and four on the bottom), through the floor, with BIG washers underneath.
If they keep turning after they are tight, you are stripping them out, and they won't hold for long. We had D-rings in our Rage'n and we had one rip completely out of the floor, when we got to our destination, all the dirt bikes will laying on top of each other. Good thing the gas was turned off on them! We put new ones in through the frame, work really well and don't have to worry about them.
I have a Raptor 3612 and carry two 1500cc street bikes. I dropped the tanks and put through bolts in to hold the etrack down. I would not trust lag bolts or any screw into wood. Time and vibrations will loosen them then down goes a bike.
There are plenty of holes in the e track....enough so that you can use 1" bolts every two or three inches if you want too....Mine has been screwed down for over three years with lots of different things tied to them and they have never failed...just don't over tighten!
Check them once in a while too!
I put 12x1" S/S in my tracks in my raptor (advice from Y-Guy....thanks). If you look at how the E-track is designed you want to be careful when hooking to the end of the track but, in the middle the working load is distributed across the track (by design).
This is the same stuff used in the trucking industry to strap pallets/carts of product from moving around in trucks.
Through bolting them on the ends is probably a good idea but probably not necessary for ATVS. Street bikes may be a different story but, as long as your connecting in the middle of the track away from the ends you should be ok.
Somebody tried screwing a D-ring down into the floor, I can see where this would pose some problems if not through bolted. The D-rings that I've seen only have 2-4 holes for mounting.
