I am new to RVing and have just bought a new TT. I see that there are all kinds of discount clubs you can join for deals on supplies, insurance etc. Just wondering what the best is. Thanks

Just do search on them here on the forum. There are all kinds, some only for MHs, certain makes, and others open to everyone. We're Good Sam Charter life members, Camping World President Club, CampClub USA and Coast to Coast. These give us discounts in parts, camping and different insurance. The thing we have always liked about Good Sam is it's open to everyone from the big MH to the tent campers. They have a lot to offer from discounts, insurance, to local chapters and State Samborees(Rallies) plus a lot of friends we're made and will make.

I'm in Good Sams and Camping World President's club. The Good Sams RV road service has already come in handy and more than paid for itself.

The CW membership is good if you're going to spend enough to cover the cost of membership in CW stores or online. It isn't much, you just have to spend something like $100 per yr. With our style of camping (we're nomads and love to go to new places) CW is usually a welcome site on the map or road.

We stay mostly in State Parks, so haven't joined any CG clubs.

Passport America. I always save the membership fee the first week I renew.

If you are going to get just one, I would say Passport America, pays for its self normally first couple nights.

Never understood the camping world presidents program, why pay money to buy stuff that is over priced by much more than the 10% discount you get.... but that just me.

Escapees - is great if you need mail service

Good Sam - Great, just opt out of any mailings, they have tons of junk mail.

DiverGary,
So to answer the question, where do you buy all of your camper supplies and equipment if not CW? I've found a few things at Walmart or somewhere else but not much specialized available.

There are tons of place to buy most everything that camping world sells, just look at some of the wonderful google ads here at rv.net. Do not get me wrong, camp world is fine, just dont understand paying to get a discount on product that is, in most cases higher than other sources.

We like Good Sam, opt out of mail. They offer discounts on purchase, rental, camping, disney, renatl cars and MORE. Try it for a year and go from there

I have Good Sam not just for the 10% discount on mdse. and campgrounds, but so I can get the ERS, which is slightly cheaper than AAAplusRV.

As to campground memberships - both Passport America and Camp Club USA offer 50% off campground fees with restrictions (see listing of campgrounds to see if they are in the areas you will be camping, and check restrictions to see if they meet your needs). There are other discount camping clubs/memberships: Escapees, Happy Camper to name a few.

Most of the 'essentials' for the RV, I've found at Wal-mart and better prices than elsewhere.
