Hello All
I have a 2008 Jayco 32ss on a kodiak chassis with the 8.1 engine. It has a transmission temp gauge in the middle of the dash. We have only made one trip in it so far but I am not getting any reading on the gauge. It's under warranty but the nearest shop is 1 1/2 hours away. Does anybody know how I can test the input wires to see if it is getting a signal. Thanks for your help. Jack

Also, has anybody traded this gauge out with a more visable (maybe autometer)gauge with a 270 degree sweep.

The Thermos keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. How does it know?

That thermos is like our children, they remember what is fed into them.
Can't help you on your gauge question. My F-250 has a trans temp gauge and it always run in the middle of the gauge after it is warmed up. Towing or empty, hot or cold it never varies much at all.

The temperature gauge on my Seneca 35GS will not move except when I’m pulling a long hill towing my trailer. It starts out at 160 degrees and unless you have quite a load it will not move much. I think yours is probably working correctly.

Same here. I have also read the same thing on several other forums.

The only time I ever seen it move is when I was towing 6500 pounds up the Grapevine near Southern Ca. At first I thought the same thing but it does work. I'll be replacing my transmission gauge with a aftermarket that starts at a 100 degrees instead of 160. There are a few Kodiak owners that I spoke to that highly recommended changing the transmission gauge.

Do you know if they were able to hook up the aftermarket gauge to the existing wiring or did they install a new sending unit? Thanks for all the info. Jack

I just spoke to the Jayco senior service advisor and he informed me the transmission was of such that the sensor rarly moves. On when you are towing a really heavy load climbing mountains. Guage is OK just a cool tranny. Dane

I'm thinking that I'll probably have to change out the sending unit, but either way it will be a piece of cake. I will also be adding the 4x4 4 gage cluster instead of the 2 gauge plus slot in the dash. I will run boost, transmission, and EGT gages in that cluster...not sure what I'll run in the fourth spot. From what I was told the factory gauges are par at best. It's all personal preference and I feel better knowing that I have a set of good gages, especially running the extra power that I run.

If you are planning any type of "boost", EGT should be your 4th choice.

I'm already running a EGT gage in my 2nd spot on the stock cluster.
