My rig is old but big. We had seven of us (RVs) all next to each other. We all got our awning out and slides (I dont have one but I got my Jeep in instead) and we had ez ups in between all RVs. Sure, I have camped in more wide open places, I have had more room and I have pulled into easier places. But if you need hook ups (you need em like I do my friend and for the same reasons) you will be fine. Like everyone says, you'll be on the road anyway. The place was clean, people friendly, and you won't be sorry.

We will be there July 31 until the 5th with some friends. We are also taking our dogs. I have heard to be careful with the coyotes because they can snatch the little dogs up so fast.

Norris, we'll be there the same time. Maybe we will run into each other!

nicholas ins and Greentreena,

Several years ago we entered Yellowstone from the east. Stayed at Fishing Bridge for 5 days. We had been to YP twice before, but not in the RV. My observations:

1. Entering from Cody on the east side was not a problem for us (see our rig in our sig). It seems like a long drive, but it is a beautiful drive. Take your time. We stayed the night before just east of the park, and went through the gates early in the am. Encountered no lines.

2. Fishing Bridge is great! CENTRALLY located, hookups, laundry, camp store, etc. I agree, not a good "camping" experience but we went to see the park, not sit in or around our camper. We would get up early to look for wildlife. Would stay out until mid afternoon and stop to eat, then back out in the evening for more exploration.

3. We could not see "everything" in five days. That park can WEAR YOU OUT! Lots of walking on the gravel trails and boardwalks. We were there with two younger teens. For a three-day trip with small ones, I would recommend doing your research and hit the highlights. I suspect you will go back when your kids are older like we did!

4. There are some off-the-beaten-path unimproved roads on the maps that you can drive- good for seeing wildlife. Stay in the car around the bison and bears- many don't! We also took our bikes to a geyser that you can only access by hiking or by bike. It erupts every 5-6 hours and erupted just as we arrived!

5. Take lots of pictures; there are not many places like this. Here are a couple of mine.

Have a great trip and good luck!

We just got back from Yellowstone, we stayed at Madison campground, no hookups but a great campground.

First day

Last day

Awesome park. Enjoy yourself. Lots to see. We love the animals. The first night at the campground a buffalo came right past the campsite.

I did a search on this site and it seems like the sites are very close together and the campground isn't nice. Can someone clarify this for me. We will have a new baby plus our 3 1/2 year old so I promised the wife full service sites and Fishing Bridge seemed like a good choice.

Also what are the must see attractions? We plan on one day around Old Faithful. What else must I see for the remaining three days? Any insight would be appreciated thanks...Norris

Here are two sites that will help you out. Click on the "plan your trip"

Just don't get in the habit of driving fast from point A to point B.....There is something beautiful to observe beyond every rock, tree, and curve in the road.

Enjoy Yourself.
