After plowing the driveway today I was looking at the camper in the garage and thought I would add somethings to the board.
1. Is it really a good idea to tell the world that you and your family are leaving for a 3 week camping trip then have your name and address in your member profile?

2. If you are new to camping read all the forums you can learn a lot.
3. When you are in the dump station line don't leave your rig to go swimming.
4. "Not Pottable Water" means don't drink it, use in cooking or cleaning.
5. I have had ford, Chevy, Dodge, and GMC trucks. In my humble opinion GMC/ Chevy is the best.
6. I have had gas engines and diesel engines. As long as I can afford to by one I will never go back to gas. There just is no comparison.
7. THANK YOU DAD for teaching me how to change a tire when I was a kid. It really help when the trailer tire blew out.
8. It is never a good idea to use gas or Coleman fuel to start a campfire!
9. Help the new people it will come back and pay for it self many times over.
10. There are 50 states and numerous territories in this great Country we live in. If you don't like where you live move, Life is to short to be unhappy.
One last thing. LET IT SNOW

1) I tell my one neighbor next door, and my neighbor across the alley that I'm headin' out for X number of weeks, (sometimes I'm gone a month at a time out playing somewhere in the country) and to keep an eye on my home for me. The one neighbor I've had for 21 years and he is a disabled cop, and is home nearly 24/7. He has my cell phone number, and I have told him I trust his judgement to just do what you need to do to secure my property in case of some emergency.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

I see where you're coming from on thought #1. As much as I'm tempted to say "anyone else going to be at --- on (specific dates)", I have refrained from broadcasting to all & sundry exactly when we're going to be away. IMO,just not a good idea.

Enjoyed your other random thoughts.

If the sign says it's not potable water, I won't use it for cooking either. We'll fill up elsewhere. Chances are the water itself is fine, but who knows where the end of that hose has been!

I also understand about not posting information about where you will be going, but I still have people that stay at home. Everyone in my family is not interested in camping, so someone is always home, along with at least one dog.

Well it is -35 below outside (wind chill) Personel and home safety are important, and people need to think aboutall the time.
I started thinking about some of the winter outings that are going on some where. You can bet there are some Scout troops having a winter campout right now. Plus lots of diehard campers out just for fun. Done that been there and probably will do it again. I was thinking about setting up my 1 pole tent the other day. I have not used that tent in the winter.
Keep warm

responding to #1...very good point, which is why I've never posted in that way even though it's a fun topic...however, interestingly enough I hadn't given much thought to the fact that anyone who frequently passes my home enough knows when we're away, since the TT is gone! My neighbor a few houses down brought that to my attention last summer when walking by with her dog. She said "Hey, how was your trip?" and then mentioned that the only reason she knew we were gone was because the TT wasn't in our yard all week! Yikes...good thing I have neighbors to keep an eye on things for me

1) Leaving for a family trip and not worrying about your house becuase your neighbor is a avid gun collector of rather large caliber weapon's and has boasted about about being a "dead-ringer" -

PRICELESS.

Weather report is for 3-5 more snow. Yea I get a plow some more.
Neighbors are great. Getting to know them is great. They can help.
I am kind of suprized that I have not heard from the Ford or Dodge guys.
