Hi everybody,

I would like to thank everybody for all of the helpful information that I have been getting from all of you. My wife and I are about to take the plunge and buy our first RV. We put a hold on a 1999 Georgie Boy Landau 30' last night pending viewing in a couple of days. The RV show is on currently so everybody is busy for the weekend. We are paying approx $35K for the machine. My questions are as follows:

What is the quality like on Georgie Boy machines?

Does the price seem about right for that model/year?

Does anybody have either positive or negative feedback on Georgie Boy machines?

Thanks

There is a 2001 on web for $35,500 so maybe your price is to high. The value is in the condition of the unit. If it's a Chevy Chassis it's worth more than a Ford. The Fords had transmission problems. Chevy's cost about $1500 more new over Ford. See "certified roadworthy" under search in this forum.

I came close to buying a 1996 Georgie Boy DP. It was in very poor condition, however, when we went to look at it. Some of its condition was how it was treated (even though it only had 9000 miles on it), but a lot of it was due to poor build construction. Very glad we ended up with a Winny product.

The price is high for a 1999 30' model-----especially if it doesn't have a slide.

I just looked up the NADA for 1999 Georgie Boy Landau models ... none of the have retail prices even close to 35K. Prices appear to be in the high teens/low 20s.

We have a 1998 Georgie Boy Class C. We bought it used, but still got great service from the Georgie Boy factory near the MI/IN state line. I think they might cut off on-site service over 10 years though so that won't be a factor much longer.

1999 Georgia Boy landau m-2905 average retail is $18,390 so I think the asking price is almost twice what it is worth. Do your homework before buying or you are going to lose a chunk of money. Go to your bank and look at their NADA guide.

Prices are much higher in Canada. All of the units that I have looked at have prices significantly higher than the NADA price. So far, this is the newest unit with the lowest milage that I have been able to find in this price range here in Alberta Canada. I know that Georgie Boy is made by coachman, does anybody know if it is a step up or down from the coachman line? I assume it is sort of like Ford and Mercury.

For $15,000, you can afford a trip (or 3-4) south!!

If you find one advertised down here that you like, post and see if there's someone on this forum that lives nearby. Maybe someone can do a look-see before you inspect it yourself.

Good advice. Buying in Canada jacks the price up at least 30%. So when you get replies saying it's not worth 35k, it's means it's not worth 35k 'in the US'. Because of the selection and price, I'd strongly suggest considering buying one from the US. Mine was 600 miles away in Iowa and I saved 35-40% over local and got exactly what I wanted.

Because I shopped in the US I had a chance to look at a lot of older units. Every Georgie Boy I seen looked abused. Comparing equal mileage and years, Georgie Boy was the most worn out looking. Fiberglass and plastic cracking, finish worn off the sides of cabinets, fabric worn through, etc. Whether that means poor build quality or that the owners use them harder or do less maintenance, I'm not sure. I do know that based on seeing them in person, Georgie Boy is at the absolute bottom of my list.
