In my opinion, I sometimes wish I could just throw the TV out the window! How much do we miss and how big are our rear ends because we are mesmerized by the one eyed monster. The kids should be enjoying the sites or be out side (preferably when parked as road rash may be an issue) enjoying nature. Wonder if RV dealers could sell em' sans TV hook-ups? Doubt it, we are addicted as attested by so many vans and cars with TVs installed now....oh well, back to the TV!

HDC, the steps still retract. Thanks for the tip though. I think the TV will be more for back ground noise while the kids color or draw or do whatever they feel like doing while we travel. I agree that we spend too much time in front of the idiot box. I do want to figure out how to disable the surround sound and just let the TV speakers play, so I can listen to the music in the driver area. I'll have to look in the info packet they gave me and see what remotes I have and how to adjust the different settings on the TV, stereo and even the furnaces. This thing it more trick than I thought!

Our 2008 Jayco Greyhawk 31ss is great. The question I have is, how do I defeat the TV and DVD player power being turned off when I turn on the ignition? The inverter and generator both work that outlet, but as soon as the vehicle key is turned on, the outlet powers down. I'm off to install my trailer brake! I'll check back with you RV gurus in a little while.

It's an easy fix to defeat it. Locate the receptacle where the TV is plugged into and open it up. Cut the blue wire - it's the signal coming from the ignition so once cut the problem is solved.

Common sense goes along way. Im sure he will not watch tv while driving. it s his family or friends who will give me a break. I could by pass mine but usually just run an extention cord to another outlet. What trooper is looking for rvs with tvs on? We go down the road with a laptop on and tv. Some people really have to dramatize it all.

I have a 2006 Granite Ridge. Several months ago, on this forum, somebody gave instructions on how to disable this "safety feature". I saved it, and intend to do it someday. Anyway, here is what they wrote:

Here are the instructions I followed as given to me by another board member.

Disabling the inverter cutt-off when the engine is running is a piece of cake. It will only take about 15 mins. Do the following steps:

1. Take off the outlet cover in the TV cavity area.

2. Remove the 2 screws that hold the outlet in place and work the outlet out.

3. you should see a red wire coming out of a black plastic box glued on the back of the outlet.

4. There should be a connection clip from the red wire to a purple wire. Open the clip and disconnect the red wire.

5. Cap the wires and put back in.

Have fun and good luck!!!

I tried this on my 2003 Granite Ridge and saw no such extra wire, just a fairly standard-looking piece of romex feeding the socket. Perhaps some of the GRs have the ignition cutoff wired somewhere else?

I can't remember what model year the guy had who posted that instruction. I have not checked mine out, so you could be right.

It sounds like the disconnect relay is elsewhere. You may have to trace the wire back to find it.
