My wife and I would like to become full timers. In order to do so, we would have to take my soon to be 90 year old mother with us. She is in great health, and is on NO medication. She walks 3-4 miles a day. Right now she is in her own apartment, which is attached to our house, so we have privacy. We are wondering if anyone out there has attempted to full time with an in-law in tow.

Don't think you will be able to do that. Everyone especially older people need privacy. I knew a couple in there late 60's with a 90 year old mom in a separate RV on the lot behind them. She made friends with other people in park and they looked after her sharing meals. You can't expect her to do what you like to do as she probably has ideas of her own for her daily routine. You need a long talk about the entire situation. You might try a month together before you and her make up each others minds.

My mother was always willing to go with us whenever we went well up to her 90's but when she got to 95 she just wanted to stay where she was when it came to taking a trip. She would go for a weekend but that was the limit. She lived in a senior residence here in Holland, MI and loved her time there. She did live until 96 1/2 and was still playing euchre 2 weeks before her death. I think the privacy for full time would be an issue.

I also had my mother living with us (she also was 90),I got transferred from CA to KS. It was about a 3 month time frame before we found a house etc. I do not think it would have been a good plan having her live in the 5th wheel with us. I found a RV park with cabins so I had her in one of those for the time. I realize the extra cost but there has to be some seperation.

Thinking of modifying a motorcycle carrier to transport a rocker so the old bat, uh, mother in law, can ride on the back of the 5er.

Ask her how she feels about it. Does she feel up to it? Doe she think she'll have the time of her life?

Kind of facing the same development. But it's my MIL and she lives with us now. I guess we'll see this summer while we are out every weekend. Fulltiming a couple years off.

Being 92, my MIL is still spry, but getting in and out of the five with those stairs is a real choir for her. Sleeping arrangements is another consideration? Where you gonna put her? Don't see it as a real good long term solution.
