My wife & I just attended the Valley Forge RV show looking for some ideas on a new travel trailer.
We have narrowed our choices down to 4.
In terms of quality & workmanship, how would you rank the following trailers?

1-Holiday Rambler Savoy LX
2-Cross Roads Cruiser
3-Forest River Sierra
4-Forest River Cardinal

-any one that I should stay away from?
-any one that stands out as a superior trailer?

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated

The only two models I can speak to from experience when making my decision was the Cross Roads Ruiser and the Forest River in General....

I liked the Forest River. The workmenship on both was fine with me. None of the features from either manufacturer jumped out at me. When we decided to go with the Cross Roads manufacturer..... we worked our way down to their Zinger models taking us in a different category all together.

Personally, whe it came to the Cross Roads....I could not see justifiying the extra $$$ for the higher end models.

We looked at a Savoy LX at Dixie RV in Hammond, LA, a month ago; drove over there about 60 miles just to see that particular model (28sks, I think). It was an attractive trailer, but for the price the fit and finish was a little less than expected. The exterior and underneath was very impressive, but he interior was a little rough around the edges for the price. Perhaps we saw a bad example, as the HR lineup is very highly regarded by many.

I like the Crossroads products, although they are a little on the heavy side. Be sure that you have a TV that is up to the task.

(#4-Forest River Cardinal) I have had three Forest River so far 1st one was a Wildwood never had any problems 2nd one was a Sierra nothing but problems 3rd one is the one I have now Cedar Creek. We only had it for five weeks. The main thing is to make sure you have a good dealer and also that you like the floor plan(layout) Good luck in what ever you get.

If I were you, I would do some more research on line. I can't find the web site, but there is one that does a survey on trailer and manufacturer. I wish I had done that before getting my Forest River product. Not two years old and already needs a new roof! Forest River says my trailer was out of warranty before I ever bought it and I bought it new.

Have you checked out the Crossroads Sunset Trail model? We love ours and find the quality to be very good as well as storage.

On another topic, I have camped for years. Now it's my turn to tow. I have a 2000 Suburban 2500 4x4 6.0l pulling 31' TT 6000lb empty. What brand electric brake controller do you have/recommend? Is there a site where they have been reviewed? Thanks for your feedback, New sam Member. Dean

The Tekonsha Prodigy is the one most often suggested. I use it when towing my Road Runner. It works great, but it's the only one I use.
