Has anyone in here went from a larger RV to a B and regretted it? Seems like a smart way to go if you put a lot of miles on the RV at todays fuel cost. I read that Sprinter based B's can get 18-22 mpg is this for real? Thanks in advance for any info.

We went from a Class A gas to a Class B diesel Sprinter. No regrets. Gas mileage is averaging 20 mpg. Our needs changed because DH doesn't want to travel much anymore and we aren't "camping" as often. The B is more for me to take off and go whenever I want. I love it. Yes, it has less storage area....but I really didn't need all of that "stuff". To me, the advantages of good gas mileage and ease of parking and traveling far outweighs having that big old Class A. I didn't drive the Class A - but I recently made my first trip of 1500 miles doing all the driving myself in the Class B.
When we took our long trips out West it seemed like I was always wanting to stop to see something along the way, but having to deal with parking that Class A and a tow vehicle was too difficult. Or, we would park it in a campground and go exploring in the tow vehicle and then have to drive back to the campground. I think having this B is going to be so much better - - just stop and see what I want and no more driving back and forth to campgrounds, just keep on going.
It is all about figuring out which type of RV will work for the lifestyle you want to have. As our life changes, so do our choices of RV I guess.
Good luck on your decision.

the only fly in the ointment is this. old style sprinters
get better mileage than new 2007-on. unless your buying used
you can't depend on mileage figures. a;so new emission control
rules make newer sprinter diesels more expensive in overall
operating costs than older models

Downsized last year from a B+ and have no complaints. Easy to drive and park. As far as storage, we never take more than we use anyway so it works fine for us. The smaller living area took some getting used to, and the bathroom could be a little bigger, but it's manageable. No regrets.

My 2005 Sprinter Chassis PW does indeed get 21.5 mpg or so overall and occasionally 25 mpg and once or twice only 17-18 mpg.

If fuel mileage is your primary concern you could end up disappointed. Yes, they get great mileage but a B lifestyle is entirely different from an A or C. Bs are more for touring and not stopping at destinations for any length of time. At least that is my take on them and it suits me fine.

We have our awning enclosure for extra space when we stay for more than a few days and have plenty of room. But most of the time we enjoy shorter stays and quick less than five minute escapes from the campgrounds.

Am I suffering deja vu or is this truly a repeat of an earlier thread by wannabee?

Good take on this subject, yes that is exactly what I am looking for because we don't 'camp' for long periods of time.

yep, when a 22-24 ft C would be a lot cheaper and give a lot more room and could carry and TOW something, I question the B myself. That extra 25-30 grand will buy a lot of gas difference.
