Hi,
Had an Airstream and sold it...Kick myself everyday for that. Times have changed along with tow vehicles and we are now looking for an ultralight. We haven't set our eyes on any in about two years, but I remembered a few from an RV show we went to. The Jay Feather really stands out and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on those.
We have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. It has a 6000# tow rating. We really like the JayFeather 199 floorplan. I believe my tv will do fine based on where we will be camping most often. We live in Alabama and probably won't travel too far from home. Mostly to the beach and to some local parks and so forth.
Thanks!

Keep in mind the vehicle tow rating includes the cargo and passengers, as well as fluids. JayFeathers are made for your truck, make sure to invest in a good weight distribution hitch, preferably a reese dual cam. At 4700 lbs dry, when loaded you will feel it for sure, but should do fine. Make sure you have a trailer tow package on your tow vehicle. Best of luck, and you picked a terrific RV company! Jayco rocks!

I cannot comment on your towing capacities versus the weight of the floorplan you mentioned. Our experience with the Jayfeathers was a very positive one. We had ours for 2.5 years and it did great for us, we just outgrew it. It is a well built unit with incredible customer service. We have our 2nd Jayco now and we really looked at many, many trailers before we traded and kept comparing them to Jaycos and they came up short. (We were comparing trailers in the same price range)
Have fun!

Jimmy, I find this interesting. Not knowing a thing about the Airstream model, year or experiences you had with that trailer are you and the family going to be satisfied with the Jay Feather or any trailer at its price point. That trailer is fine but Airstream folks are a pretty brand loyal bunch.
I have an 35' Eagle and like the trailer a lot but I know over on the Airstream forum going to SOB is grounds to make the owner "walk the plank".
You should get some Jay Feather users to jump on this in a little while.

We have a Kiwi too that is predecessor to the Feather and we have had excellent result with it. We had a small leak in one of the bunk windows that was fixed quickly and easily under warranty. Other than that, it has been perfect in everyway. We have friends and family with other model Jayco that have had good results from theirs as well. Will buy Jayco again when and if I can get DW to agree to the change.

gilldawg79,
We purchased a 2008 Jay Feather 31V this past June.
We traded in a 2006 KZ 2809 Frontier.
The Jayco is definitely better made & the customer service from our new Jayco dealer is also better.
We tow with a 2002 1500 Yukon XL. Our Jayco is 5900 lbs dry. SO loaded up we are maxing out our 7400 lbs on the Yukon.
We really like our Jayco & would recommend Jayco & their 2 year warranty.
The towing is fine. We won't be winning any races. We use a Reese weight distributing set-up. I would prefer to have our Equalizer back though. We had to trade out our Equalizer because of how the battery & propane are mounted on the tongue.
Good luck with your purchase!

We have a Jay Feather 31E with an Equalizer and have had no problems. Getting used to the packing and such, but that would be true with any new to you unit. You'll be happy with the Jayco.

Jay, Jayco will not install a larger tank on anything custom you may want done when you order your trailer. The only thing they will do is add the options they have listed for your model.
BTW, I don't agree with it either.

The JayFeather 199 is a good match your your Pathfinder. I really do like the floorplan! In my opinion, the JayFeather is the best lite weight on the market. It is well built and has a great warranty. My aunt and uncle have had zero problems with their JayFeather 213. Good luck!

We've had our Jay Feather 213 almost a year, been out 31 nights with it, and love it. It's a well made unit, and I'll ditto what others have said for service. We'll be trading up in a bit to a larger unit and will probably stick with Jay Feather due to our experience with the Jayco and a great dealer, Bus Supply Company, in McComb, MS.
