Thanks for the replies.
New question;;;;What about the jaws? Is there only one or maybe two that have the wrap around jaws? like a "J" hook? seams like every thing I have seen has two Jaws. Do the two jaws wear and cause a lot of banging like, being loose? There is going to be more moving pieces. right?
You worried about the frame rails on the truck? I have the B&W Companion and it works like a dream. The U-bolts are stout and hold what amounts to a 2" bar to the 5er hitch and the locking mechanism under the bed. I have a 15k pound 5er and had no issues with it at all.
I think you are worried about having to drill the frame on the truck. if so, I don't have any experience with Dodge so I don't know which hitches you will find that you won't have to drill or weld the frame.

I had a B&W turnover ball on my 06 Dodge 1 ton. Towed around 17000 lbs of hay with it using the gooseneck. It did flex alittle, so when I purchased my 2008 Ford 1 ton I went with the Reese Signature Series. Installed it myself, and it was pretty easy to do. Took around 5 hours, taking my time and running to town to get the 2 1/2" holesaw for the pucks. Like the way it's made better than the B&W. Yor really need to look at both of them yourself, so you can see how they are made. Have a friend that tows a fifthwheel with the B&W. He rally like it.

No not worried about the truck frame rails, the ones on the trailer. The 5vers are not reinforced like a goose neck is. two totally different set ups.
Gooseneck trailers are more beefier in the tongue and extension area than the 5th wheel coaches. My truck frame is already punched, but will have to drill a couple more for the B&W. The Colibert will bolt right in with there new Free Ride 5th wheel set up. About 45 min tops. Have not been able to get a hands on with the B&W and have not seen any literature applying to my truck, just the later models.
Thanks for your replies.

I just went through the same dilema. I looked at Reese, B&W and Pull rite. I went with the Pullrite super fifth(non slider). It fully remose and only leaves four holes in the bed. They don't have to remove the bed. I was told by a couple of dealers for the resse they have to remove the bed, didn't care for that idea. I too need a flat bed and have my pullrite on order, also reeese is a clamp system not the wraparound you were looking for.

Not trying to argue, just want the right info out there. I have a Reese Sig Series 18k, watched them install it and another at the same time, my F250 and a Chevy 3500.
On my last TV it was a short bed chevy so I bought the superglide, you could remove the hitch by removing the 4 pins but it was such a pain in the neck due to its size and weight that I only took it out once. If I had to haul something in the bed I would just pull a small trailer rather that deal with taking it out and putting it back in.
New TV long bed dodge I installed the B&W turn over ball and then borrowed a buddies companion to see how I would like it, kinda the same deal as the super glide, heavy and awkward for one person so I gave it back to him and bought a RV3 gooseneck adapter.
I bought my weekend warrior used and the previous owner had used the RV3 on it for 4 years piror to me buying it.
Now when I unhook the 5ver just the ball is left in the bed. I have heard stories about cracked frames but after the 4 years with the previous owner I have yet to find any on mine YET.
Hope you end up with what you want...
I am looking to purchase a new 5'ver, the gvw is @ 13.8. I want a flat floor in the truck, no rails. I want a Jaw on the 5th wheel plate to have the fewest moving parts, and if possable self adjusting, to reduce the rocking back and forth. Also a rocker head.
....
I have a RBW model called a "l'il Rocker" - it's a 2001 model. It has the "bar" you mention below, which might be the model with which you said you were not impressed. Not sure why, I sure like mine. Sure makes checking to see if the hitch is "locked" easy. It does have the tilting head which I have found is very nice. This model also have few moving parts, but I'm not sure why that's an issue?
I'm curious why you want a totally flat bed with the hitch removed? The rails on mine are only 1/2 inch high or so. I take my hitch out a lot, as I'm usually hauling kayaks in the bed once we get to where we are going. Those rails don't interfere with that task. I'm just curious what you plan on putting back there?
Thanks.

You can't beat the B&W with the Companion. I have used one for years on two different trucks and 3 different 5ers. The ability to tow either a gooseneck or 5th and still have a clean bed when not towing is a great feature.
