I keep finding these old dinky little trailers! Curious what you's all think about this one and what you think it's worth, I'm trying to figure out what to offer the owner...

It's pretty cute, no A/C but I may install a window unit if I get it. No shower, no oven, it's a camper's camper. I kinda like it!

Offer less and see what he says. It's 34 years old! Try maybe $700.

I looks to be in desent shape. Dosen't look hit or backed into anything. Look the frame and tounge over good. Did you see any signs of water damage or repair? Sometimes hard to see in pictures.

When we bought ours we paid $600. It had a stove, oven, fridg. but no bathroom. Maybe try $700-750. Looks like a fun one to work on.

Good Luck, Mich60

If it's as good as the pics indicate, I'd say it's a steal as well.

Alright, so the trailer was 50 miles from my house. I went to look at it this morning. I thought it looked alright for its age but I had a real sense my wife wouldn't like it. But I looked it over, he showed me the bathroom and toilet (which my wife really needs), we discussed options with the bed area, etc. He said they had had it a while and he had done some improvements. Feeling in my heart I wasn't going to get the trailer I didn't give it the FULL look over. However, I took pictures, the one on this post, asked a few more basic questions about it, and left fully expecting to not be back.

I couldn't get my wife on the phone so I got all the way home before she calls me and asks how it went. I describe the trailer and I email these pics to her, after which she says SHE LIKES THE TRAILER. Great, so I'm off on another road trip.

Alright so now I'm back at the guy's house and I'm really looking it over this time. Now I find out the guy was being less than honest about it with me. You know the toilet he showed me earlier? I'm digging inside I find out the plumbing isn't even hooked up for it. Alright, it's got a toilet, would it have killed you to tell me IT'S NOT CURRENTLY FUNCTIONING??? So now I'm thinking what else hasn't he told me during the course of my talking to him? Did I actually need to say "is the plumbing hooked up the toilet" after he shows it to me and he knows my wife needs it?

Also, he had told me he had "redone the plumbing"... the extent of it turned out to be a garden hose from the outside connection directly to the faucet, no hot water. Real cheesy. Best of all he'd put a water hose joint directly above a 12v junction box, can you say bzzzz... And of course, no toilet. (I need the toilet guys!!)

He told me they'd had it for a while. While I was there a little girl I presume was his granddaughter came up to watch. While he was getting a power cord I asked her how long they'd had the trailer, to which she replied "oh, about a month"... what the heck?? The guy heard her say this and got this sheepish look on his face like, "oops I'm busted"...

So now I'm worried about EVERYTHING about it. Is all that new paint on the ceiling to cover massive water damage? I know it's 34 years old and everything but the guy lack of honest forthcoming information was making my bells go off. I'd hate to pay him, hook it up to tow it away, and find out both wheel hubs are seized. Then he'd look at me and would say "well, you didn't ask me if the wheels turned or not!" Jeez!

Maybe I'm paranoid, but my gut told me to walk. Or, maybe I just lost a good deal. Either way, I guess I'm no worse off, right?

Nah, don't worry about it. If your gut tells you to walk and you did, most likely you did the right thing.

I did the same thing once when I was looking for a trailer. But I put down a bunch of miles to see it. Then drove home empty handed.

It's a rotten feeling but probably the right choice. Mich60

Your first / gut feeling is usually the right one. If this didn't pan out, figure that there is a better one out there for less money. I looked at a dozen or so after deciding to shop seriously. Almost bought one, gut told me to hold off and look a bit more. On the drive home, wondering if I made the right choice, I found the right one. Exactly what I wanted, and several hundred buck less. Be patient, it pays in the end one way or the other.
